Can Edinburgher be debt free and a mortgage holder by 30?

Switched to Scottish Power as expected - they predict a saving of £189, plus I got a £62 cashback for applying through Quidco and a £20 voucher for Virgin Wines. No doubt the wine voucher will have three million rules stipulations and will be virtually useless unless we order sixteen crates, but hey - I could be wrong :money:0

Finally got my £50 cheque from Dooyoo - meaning that I will be overdraft free from tomorrow morning :beer:
Doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight due to excitement - this is my second last debt and then I'll be free from the world of unsustainable credit FOREVER (MWA HA HA!).0 -
{drum roll}
Payday has arrived and my overdraft is gone!
{/drum roll}
I've had an overdraft through eight years, two university degrees, 5+ jobs and 10+ houses. It was the longest relationship I've had to date and boy am I glad it's ended!
Signature updated - now to get started on killing off that credit card debt...:dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance:0 -
Wow! Well done you! This diary is great inspiration for me.0

Congratulations! So excited for you - you really deserve it! Now all the money you've set aside each month to pay this off will turn into SAVINGS - a really nice feeling!

Still on a definite high after yesterday
Today has been one of those wonderful days when you save loads of money and feel greatly in control and have fun at the same time. Every time one of these comes along I feel just that little bit more confident that I'll beat the debts, get that mortgage and that I've learned that money should serve people (not the other way round)!
As yesterday was payday, some shopping was required:- Bought water filters (got £5 off by shopping around)
- Got stuff for packed lunches (got wholemeal pittas, houmous and tomatoes to last all week for about £0.70 a day)
- Managed to halve what I'd usually spend on toiletries in Boots (less than £10). Absolutely load of BOGOF deals and bargains. This was largely due to the long overdue discovery that I could use my super expensive four bladed razors four times if I gave them a good clean after shaving :rotfl:
- Treated myself to a beer, a lottery ticket and some olives - Not bad for £3. Who knows, I'm feeling lucky....
- Stuck a couple of £s worth of shrapnel in the sealed jar and another couple of £s in my 'boy's treats' piggy bank. This is currently standing at a rather woeful £3, so I may need to be a little kinder to it in future?
- Start working my way through EagerLearner's free cashback guide with a view to upping my income a little.
- [STRIKE]Start doing my daily scratches again[/STRIKE]. £10 paid onto my prepaid credit card so I can load the account again after mistakenly closing it before!
Now off to double check the banking, get some lunch and play computer games. Hey, at least it's a cheap activity.0 -
Didn't win the Lottery, so back to the business of DFW.
Hope to tidy up EagerLearner's very useful daily click spreadsheet for use (there's a few retailers who've moved on since it was last updated, so will remove them). It's amazing the amount of work she's put into it and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes their daily clicks but wants to up the ante.
Also planning on making a few suggestions for new products on Dooyoo to get up and running with that again.0 -
Slow day on the DFW front - largely because I needed to go to work
Completely exhausted at the moment - my downstairs neighbours are rude so and sos who arrive home drunk most Sunday mornings at 1-2 am. I'm a really light sleeper and can't remember the last Monday where I wasn't feeling bleary eyed and irritable. Can anyone recommend some good earplugs?
Wrote my first Dooyoo review in about a month last night and suggested five other items to review once they get added to the site. Managed to write up 2/5 reviews already, but making sure I don't write more than two a day as it becomes very onerous very quickly...
Will write one more this evening and then get to grips with the daily clicks (ok, I'll try to!) It's pretty disheartening to start off with something like the clicks, as it takes a while to build up speed (and money) and you don't get any of the 'instant gains' that you see from review writing or free scratches.
Part of me still thinks a Sunday job would be good, as I could ditch all the online schemes0
