Can Edinburgher be debt free and a mortgage holder by 30?

What I DID do, was lots of thinking outside the box, before I handed in my notice. Had plan B ready, incase plan A took some time to work etc.
Thanks Hypno. Like you I think I'll try my hardest to approach a potential change of career logically, hard as it is to ignore emotions when you think a particular job is for you.
My immediate plan is, of course, the debts. Then hopefully a course on my days off will let me see whether a career in hospitality is for me. If I hate it, I'll still be in a job that I do well (or so I'm told!) with a future that is at least stable if nothing else
If I love it and decide to leave my current job it will be on the best possible terms and I'll be sure to maintain links with former employers (well, maybe a Christmas card) in case I ever need them for references in the event of a career catastrophe.

Everyone around me said I was mad - but it was one of the best things I have ever done!
Even though I went back to my old career in the end, I learnt a heck of a lot about myself in the couple of years I was doing other stuff, so that HAS to be an incredibly positive thing. Had I simply stayed where I was, I would have been stuck in a rut that was getting increasingly difficult to get out of.
I did maintain good relations with my old firm though, which has proved invaluable really - in my industry, once you have burnt your bridges, it is very difficult to rebuild them, and the competition for jobs is so fierce. So don't pi$$ anyone off, whatever you do!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. It was a bit of a resultWe're doing great thanks - as relaxed as we can be, having fun and starting to plan for the future (not just the month).
Thanks for your PM - it's always good to see DFW buddies checking in after an absence.
Who did you take broadband with? O2 had us up and running in 5 days!0 -
Well thanks for checking I was still alive lol.

Tee hee - probably not any time soon, although I do have an engagement ring savings account. Now to put some money in it.....0 -
We've just switched to O2 (via quidco of course) and they had the changeover done very swiftly - I was most impressed!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

They are good. We've been using them since November and I can honestly say that we've never had to call them with any issues and have only lost service once. This resolved itself within a couple of hours.
See, now you've just made me feel jealous - we didn't use a cashback, but are getting it for approximately buttons a month as existing O2 customers0 -
We are O2 customers too - so cheaper broadband - and £50 cashback on quidco too......it's a shame you can't get backdated cashback!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Who knows, in this era of reclaiming everything six years after the event this could be the next big thingIt would be a brilliant way of asserting consumer power by demanding rewards for the products that we've been using for years without so much as a thank you from the manufacturers!
