bfcmatt, how many times does TalkTalk have to let you down before you accept what a crock of **** they are? Tell them they have breached the contract they have made and you are therefore finding another provider.

It will be quicker in the long run.

Be warned! Talk Talk don't like to talk and make sense or reply to emails if you have a complaint. Their contact point on their website is a hell of a merry-go-round, like the poster above! They obviously don't want you to complain but just take your money!

You may be safe if everything goes swimmingly and you don't have to contact them to get things rectified!!

Just had a call from TalkTalk, they noticed that I’d requested a MAC code, and that I’d been a customer for a long time. If I was leaving for a better package, they could offer incentives and free upgrades etc etc, So he got the full history. In case the TalkTalk ‘rep’ cares to read this, this is why I’m leaving:-
I’m leaving because your technical support isn’t very technical and offers no support.
I’m leaving because you charge me for phoning you!
I’m leaving because you charge me for fixing the equipment you supply.
I’m leaving because you only care about my custom when you think I’m going to leave
Above all I’m leaving because TalkTalk lies to its customers

Did you actually manage to get your mac code! How did you do this - phone or letter or email? They still won't give us ours.
  • Hi there,

I am getting rather annoyed with TalkTalk to be honest and short of holding on the phone for another hour before I can speak to someone, I thought I would leave a message here.

I was with Tiscali two years ago when I lived in Birmingham. When I moved out, I had to cancel the contract three times before they would stop sending me bills. This involved numerous letters and phone calls trying to explain that I no longer lived in Birmingham and my old flat. Eventually, they got the message and sent me a cancellation letter! Hurrah I thought....until 3 weeks ago, when I received another bill!

Now bearing in mind, I haven't been in the property for two years and they haven't contacted me for 18 months, it came as a surprise. I called up the cancellations department and explained to the gentleman on the phone and he said I needed to speak to the billings department. After 45 mins on hold (apparently the call was important to them and was due to be answered with 6) and a phone bill of around £4.00 - I was cut off.

Now I have received a debt collection agency call and letter trying to charge me a possible extra £300 +! I am rapidly getting towards the end of my tether with TalkTalk. It is beyond a joke.

Any advice would be greatly received?

    Many thanks,
    TheLamb

Its been awhile, but I'm sure that what I left TT I didn't need a MAC code because they had my landline. To get another service I had to take the landline back to BT - there was a period of downtime, but I didn't need the MAC Code, I just had to move the landline back to BT.

I think I'll try adding to this thread but it will take a while to tell the sorry tale! I had BT for landline and Tiscali for broadband, but decided in mid February to change to Talk Talk and take their Pro package for everything in one bundle and a new modem. I had the whole lot booked and waited for the initiating phone call and modem. At the beginning of March the landline had changed over but there was no call and no new modem. At the end of March and I called Talk Talk to ask what's happened to the new modem and they tell me I cancelled the whole order--- I didn't. If I had cancelled I'd have still been with BT for the landline phone! No what has happened is that Tiscali/Talk Talk has illegally cancelled the Talk Talk Pro order and replaced it with their own inferior version and kept quiet about it all! Now Tiscali/Talk Talk won't apologise to me, they say they can't give me my original phone number back and are being quite awkward. I have re-ordered Pro with Talk Talk but I am insisting on the old number and I just want this mess sorted out quickly and at no cost to myself. trouble is I have spent the whole day on the phone and still have no satisfaction from Tiscali. As they are owned by Talk Talk why are they not being forced to give the number up to Talk Talk Pro. Personally I think the staff that do this "slamming" should be fired and Tiscali as a company wound up. I wanted to complain on the Talk Talk site but they won't allow me to as I don't have Talk Talk which is funny because Tiscali swear that as they are now part of Talk Talk I do have Talk Talk according to them. Tiscali are cheats and I want something done about this NOW. I hope the Talk Talk company rep is going to read this and do something about it . In the meantime I am joining more fora today than in my whole internet existence just to spread my complaint to the whole world plus of course BBC Watchdog Ofcom et al.

Leiane, as long as you are paying TalkTalk and wasting 10p a minute trying to get some sense out of the muppets on their so-called help-lines, they are laughing all the way to the bank.
Get a MAC and/or PAC code, if they are not giving you any service, stop the direct debit. I guarantee they will suddenly emerge from under their stones and promise you anything to stay.
As you want to get this service from them, make sure that anything they say is in writing, as TalkTalk lie to their customers. Personally I would rather use two tin cans and a piece of string than have a telephone line with TT.
    Good luck!

worto03, I just phoned and asked for it! I refused to tell them where I am going, and just kept saying (politely) I want a MAC code. Even got a confirmation letter yesterday.

    Hi Everyone
Have you tried using the TalkTalk members forums at http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/index.php ?

They are managed by talktalk staff, and provide a much better service than the "helpline". Takes 1 or 2 days to get an answer, but I have found them to be very good at resolving a recent problem, after months of trying to do it on the phone with them!

    Good luck:)
