ive got 2 interviews with DWP. one for AO in pensions disabilities n carers. and the other for EO.
The AO will have a situation test/interview and the EO a competancy based interview.
In the post today I got a letter stating that one of the competancies had been missed off the letter given to me the day of the numeracy n literacy tests, so there are 5 competancies to prepare for EO.
Manpower is doing the EO thing in Telford next week.
And the AO one is in Solihull at a JCP tomorrow [yep - a saturday!!]
Thing is I live near West Bromwich.
Do DWP contribute to fuel or travel costs??
It doesn't really bother me as I would be prepared to travel, and I drive too. But as Tesco say, "Every little bit helps."

What are your two IRC's and when did you get the letter about interview/tests?

    Thanks guys.
That raises another point, is anybody concerned of working at the JCP in their own towns? As in, the possibility of 'backlash' from a disgruntled customer? I suppose I am being abit paranoid, its just that you 'do hear stories'

I worked in a Jobcentre in my home town for 8 years, you shouldn't have any problems as long as you give people the righti nformation and treat everyone with respect, I met lots of lovely people in that time, unfortunately its the nasty ones you remember :D

I did an interview for 60370. Manpower's records say it was for 60369. I know they were getting things wrong with regards telling people interviewing for those two IRC's what they needed to bring in terms of ID etc as well. Everyone in my interview group of 6 had been told something different.

I applied for the Jobs so am not really fussed about the travel. Just wondered if there is any travel expense as such.
also i am sitting a "situation test" for an AO post today.
Anyone sat one of those before?

DWP will consider contributing towards travel to interviews, but this has to be sorted prior to the interview - so for the one tomorrow its really too late

Whether they contribute depends on the distance, and the time involved in getting to your interview.

I have been to see them today, as I have an interview on Monday in Manchester. They have allowed me a train pass to Manchester, but it took about an hour to sort out, and they have to ring the firm who are interviewing you.

Will they only contribute if you are out of work, I have only recently started working as AO but have been asked to attend an EO interview for Lerwick.

Yep. You have to be on JSA to qualify
  • Hi a question for anyone who is already working with the dwp or about to start.
I start soon and was wondering in regards to the WORKING HOURS.... Will I get to choose these on my first day and what are the working hours like? I know it says 37 hours on the job spec but on another spec for same job it says 42 hours so I don’t understand??
Is it possible to do a 12 hour shift for 2 days then split the remaining 13 between the 3 days considering it’s a 37 hour week? Does anyone do these hours and is it possible?
Also if anyone could share what date we supposed to get paid each month?
    Any help greatly appreciated :o)
  • I'm currently waiting for pre-recruitment checks for AO (no mention of waiting list) on fixed contract.

I've noticed an EO position is now being advertised.

If I applied for the EO at this stage would it jeopardise my prospects of an offer for the AO position?
