Oh my word, my interview on Monday was awful. I never had a competency based interview before. They floored me with the first question and I didn't seem to recover from it! I think my answers were ok, I just didn't deliver them very well. I was so nervous and the form filling beforehand didn't help. The room I was in was very intimidating - a massive old dark wooden table, and it was really oppressive. The interviewers were lovely though and I feel a bit like I wasted their time. :embarasse
Oh well, nevermind, don't let me put you off. Good luck everyone x

I know I'm just going to have to try again!

Shush now Kick. You are second guessing yourself.
You had great examples and you were prepared.

I've got my fingers crossed for you x

I thought that exact same thing!!! I too have never encountered a competencies based interview and it intimidated me badly. I spent a whole week thinking about the interview and what i had forgot to say/do and convinced myself i had failed, then i got my success letter yesterday! So don't give up hope. Even if you don't make it, you know what to expect now, so next time will be easier.

    Good luck :)

thanks Tarja and venus for your confidence but it really was appalling. the questions were not what I expect AT ALL, I can't even remember them very well now!
I got really upset afterwards actually. The pressure definately got to me. Nevermind, perhaps there is something else waiting for me round the corner...

But as I said, good luck to those having inteviews and congrats to those with success letters - I know I'm not going to have one.

I also appied for an Admin Assistant role for my local JCP, but the pay isn't enough really (I have to pay full childcare costs as family income is too high :/), so we'll see. I might try again for the E/O role if it comes up again.

To those that have applied a few times: how long before the next job in your area came up?

well i applied in april for an EO role and then they came up again in July!

What area would you want to work in?
  • Out of interest i looked up the dwp jobs in my area for now (North West) and they are already advertising more jobs (AO/EO positions etc) for August deadlines!! I must of been for the last batch (interview end of July) so seems that there is a steady stream of jobs being made available all the time at the moment in my area!! Maybe its just Merseyside haha!

Kicktoria- i can't remember the questions i got asked, as soon as i stepped out of the interview room i forgot! Just the nerves i think. All i knew was i didn't say some of my 'golden quotes' i thought would cinch me the job haha. Good job i forgot really!!
