Well, i was mega nervous during the test, hence why i was too slow, my eye's were going funny!!! I was sure i would fail the literacy as i was panicking as i did it (i got A for English lang in school, so i feel ashamed!). After the test had been marked i got told i had failed and so i picked up my 'fail' letter, with my tail between my legs, feeling really rubbish, to go home....luckily i decided to read my letter before i left and discovered i got 16 for the numeracy paper and 10 for the literacy paper, which for the AO post is a pass!!! I went back to the woman who was in charge of the testing, and she confirmed they had made a mistake, and someone must have put me into the wrong pile! She was very apologetic when i pointed out i could have been all the way home before i realised, and missed my chance!! Thank god i opened that letter!

Anyway, i was so annoyed about that kerfuffle, it distracted me from my nerves and i was more confident in my interview. Still not sure if i will be picked, as some of the people there looked like they had years of experience. But i gave it my best shot! Only a month to wait and find out! Haha! :j
Hello I wouldnt worry to much I passed my tests first times but it took me a few interviews before I got through. I kept on gaining feedback and made improvements to my answers.

In my last interview in which I got the job I didnt think I did well. Same with you, you might have got enough marks to get you through its just wait and see now.

And even if you didnt pass dont worry DWP have vacancies going regularly.

    Hi everyone,

I've just come across this competency:

DELIVERING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE LEVEL 1

Wondering whether anyone has been in an interview for an excerise for this comptency, if so, what question did they ask for this.

Looking at the comptency on the website, it seems pretty tricky to me.

    Thanks for any help.

Hi, I got this competency. Like you said, seemed tricky so thought of many things they could ask- all except what they did ask, "tell me about a time you have delivered a professional service". :o Thought it was too obvious! Luckily managed to think pretty fast, although I'm sure you could adapt any situation to fit any question on this.

Thanks for the reply. Like you said, any situation can be shown be as part of a "professional service".

I really hope they don't ask me this though. This was one of the competencies that ws given to me by manpower, it wasn't in the original advertisement. I wouldn't be suprised if Manpower have given me the wrong competency sheet as this competency was in the job spec for another exercise for which the assessment was taking place at the same time.
  • Hi there folks, just wondering has anybody heard anything from the DWP in regards to the Executors Officer positions (IRC 61602 & 61492) positions in & around the West Midlands area? The deadline for applying was the 15 July............

    Wowzers !!!!

Just spent the best part of the afternoon reading through most of this thread. I have to say, the information contained has been invaluable and the experiences people have gone through have helped me greatly in preparing for the assessment/interview.

I was contacted by Manpower last Friday informing me of two locations (south east) that i could attend - I went for the nearest one (Reading) and they booked me in for the numeracy/literacy assessment tomorrow morning at 10am.

I would like to say that i am confident but deep down, i'm cacking it ! I've worked in customer-care driven roles for the best part of the last 6 years but i suppose i'm worried about getting caught out.

I have lots of examples already planned out for the various competencies (I applied for an AO role) but i don't know as yet which ones are going to be applicable. I was told by Manpower that the face-to-face interviews won't be until later this week - just hope i don't get surprised after the assessment (provided i get through).

Provided i get through the first stage, i'll be happy to share my experiences with anyone.

Thanks again to everyone that has contributed on this thread - The advice and information has been given with such care and sincerity - It's a testament to you all.
