Maybe they ought to get people started instead of making them wait 3 months - it's not as though there aren't any vacancies.
I did manage to get through to them (Newcastle) earlier this week and my contact did mention they are planning to recruit some temporary staff to help with the recruitment process. Hopefully that should speed things up going forward.0 -
Just a message to say thanx for everyone on here for the info they have given on their experiences so I thought i would pass on mine. I had my A/O interview on Monday afternoon in Liverpool and it really isnt as bad as you think. I passed the literacy and numeracy tests, about half didnt (which i was surprised at) then had loads of forms to sign etc, just make sure u bring all essentals, a passport photo, ur passport and another piece of ID with your address on it. NI number and GP details i found were handy too. I brought notes but I decided not to use them, was told the interview would last 20-30 minutes. It was 4 questions, example of professional service, example of excellent customer service, an example when i have been involved in a successful group effort and an example where I have reviewed my own performance and what I did to improve it. Not sure how long it actually did last but it went very quickly, she didnt prompt me much, just a couple of questions here and there. I took that as a good sign, as i answered everything she asked. Who knows though, good luck to everyone on here. It was far more help than the Job Centre, the advisor there said she would send some helpful notes out for me as I had asked for any help at all. Alas i received nothing and whilst can appreciate she may have been busy, the one chance they actually had to help me they let me down.

Urgh, I'm just sitting her learning maths for the big day. Are the percentage questions basic percentages? I'm learning everything. God, i sound obsessed!! So determined to succeed though.
Also, do we get a phone test...some people have mentioned that they have? I'm confused!"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

I think there is a telephone role play for those positions that are based in a contact centre.0 -

Oh good, i dont fancy having a fake converation with anyone when i'm gonna be feeling so nervous!! Probably slam the phone down on them/cut them off! :rotfl:"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -
Anyone who has done the lit/num test as well as the online test? I did the online test and I get the feeling the online test is a lot more difficult than the lit/num test - you get 1hr 15 mins for the online one -
Everyone who has done the lit/num test receives their results, isnt that the case with the online test? I havent received my results, has anyone else?0 -

Did you do your lit and numeracy test online? Is that the new or old way? I would rather have that than a formal sit down test...much more nerve racking!!! Brings back memories from school!!! Urgh....'turn over your paper now!'. I have mine tomorrow and I'm dreading it.
P.S. Sorry a bit off subject but, does anyone here use rescue remedy? My friend has some and tells me it is great for interview/test nerves. I suffer panic attacks and don't want to have one tomorrow. I want to try it, but the cynical side of me just keeps screaming 'Placebo! Its a placebo!'."You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -
For anyone that might be interestesd, I called Newcastle regarding IRC 60638 and 61075 as it had been over 3 weeks since deadline passing and I hadn't heard anything about interviews/assessments. They said that they will be making calls for interviews for 60638 next week and apparently nothing has been done for 61075 yet as it's too early.0

I did the online tests - you don't get a mark just an email telling you that you passed and will be called to interview (in my case this was 2 days before the interview). Not sure what you get if you fail.0
