Job Interview with DWP

Just got a call from DWP Newcastle - got really excited until the lady said that I had ticked the box for a guaranteed interview and when could I come in.
She asked what my disability was - well apart from being the sort of idiot who can't tick the right box in an application form there is none.
Anyway, I've got yet another interview out of it but what I really want is to hear back from the earlier interviews.0 -

That's so funny! I love your sense of humour :rotfl:
Good luck with your interview and don't forget to tell us how you got on.0 -

Trying to read that sheet of competencies, but it is quite complex!!! I'm trying my best to adapt it to my past work and uni. Funny how you mind goes blank when its something important!
The best advice I can give is try to think of situations that cover the competencies but try not to stress too much about it. I prepared answers before my interviews but found the questions they asked didn't relate to them so had to think on my feet. Sometimes as soon as you've heared the question you will know exactly the response to give.
I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck!0 -

Good job the lady in Newcastle did as well otherwise I might have scuppered any chance of job - I'm sure they have an internal use only box that says "BLACKBALL".0 -
In the literacy test, would it be a good idea just to circle anything that may be suspicious, or do they mark down for things like that? I dont mean circle the whole page or anything, well...unless that would work too? Haha."You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0

If I remember rightly they said that there were 15 mistakes but if you made more than 15 circles you would fail automatically. Just make sure you put 15 circles and no more ;-)0 -

I think the staff at Newcastle need a sense of humour!
It must be an absolute nightmare working with the systems they have and the obvious lack of information, not to mention the huge volume of applications/tests results/pre-employment checks/rejection letters (I do hate that R word)/success letters (with or without the waiting list element) etc, etc, etc.
The ironic thing is that they're probably understaffed at the moment!0 -
Remember you don't need to get 100% so don't get too worked up about it. If there are 15 errors definitely don't circle any more than that. Also, if you only find, say, 12 but all of them are correct then that will be plenty to pass the test.0

My wife rang to get a form today and was on hold for 20 minutes the first time, before giving up and 15 minutes the second time so they really could do with recruiting some extra staff.
Maybe they ought to get people started instead of making them wait 3 months - it's not as though there aren't any vacancies.0
