Are you sure that was for an EO and not AO excercise..When did you get the call for interview..was it done by manpower ?

I ask because I applied for exercise ref IRC 60368 which was AO for Surrey/Sussex area, the deadline for online test was 02/07/09..I haven't heard anything since then.

60369 was for an AO, as Slitty said in the earlier post before you asked for the ref, in the Brighton area. 60370 is EO in the Brighton area.

Interviews for both 60369 and 60370 are being handled by Manpower.

Ah ok, thanks. So, when was the deadline for the online test and when did you get the call inviting you for the interview for 60369. I'd just like to get an idea of the timescales. Not sure why I haven't heard anything yet for 60368.

I applied for both the Ao (60369) and EO (60370). There was no officially communicated deadline for the online tests, however the last emails received about them were 8 July for me. I did the test for 60370 (EO) and have an email stating I did not need to do the 60369 test as I had done the 60370 test and the result would be used for 60369 as well.

I received the call re: interview for 60370 (EO) on Sunday. I have not received, as yet, an interview for 60369. I know these are currently in progress, however, and will be lodging a complaint: if I passed my EO test I must have also passed the AO test. I believe they are currently in breach of their recruitment policy by not offering me an interview for 60369 (AO), and will be lodging a complaint.

Well, if it's in progress maybe they will be in contact in time regarding an interview date.

At this point I'm not expecting anything to come through for me re: the 60369 AO. The EO interviews start Thursday, if I was going to get an AO interview they would have told me by now.

Anyway, while I've been writing up a draft complaint (decided to get on with it so I can concentrate on preparing for the EO position) I've noticed something else of concern. The 60369 and 60370 recruitment process is a complete mess, I suspect people will be waiting a while to hear about jobs because they'll be dealing with a fair few complaints.

    Hi all

I had the tests recently and passed so have an interview looming soon. My own situation is a bit different as i'll explain :

I am still technically employed but am not currently being paid by them as I have been in and off work for the last 3 years due to having 5 ops on my back and have used up all my statutory sick pay. The money I get at the moment is paid through an insurance company topped up with IB.
Now, my situation is further complicated by the fact that my employer has made massive cutbacks of around 80% and have basically told (not actually said but reading between the lines) me that if I go back I'll be one of them to go. Which has left me in a bit of a catch 22 situation. Hence why I have signed up to all the programmes offered by various organisations like Pathways and further education courses as well as applying for new jobs. I really do want to get on.

DWP is a job I'm really determined to get but I am a bag of mixed emotion as I'm not sure how the best way to approach the interview. I know I will have to fill out a medical form so will have to divulge all of my recent medical history but when the interviewers ask me to tell them what I've been doing for the last couple of years do I just blurt about my medical history or do I call on my most recent of work history ?

I'm struggling as on one hand I believe my personal experience will help me do a good job for the DWP and want to emphasise that and possibly use my experience on one of the competency questions. But on the other hand I don't want it to be an issue and come across as 'poor him' etc

So I guess I'm just after some opinions to help me shine a light in the right direction.

    Thanks
You can talk about anything in the interview not just work so long as it fits the competancy and has a start middle and end. Discuss how you did something how you could have done it better, how you work ask part if a team and use examples. Take notes in with you are allowed to refer to them. Its best to have 2 examples for each competancy. If you play sport or have a hobby you can use these as examples too as long as they fit. Highlight the main points on your notes. Hope this helps.

In my in last two interviews with DWP, they just went straight into the competency questions, so you shouldn't need to tell them what you've been doing the past few years. Obviously if it does come up, be honest, but don't worry about having to explain yourself to them, they just want to know what skills you have for the role in question.

They also won't know when the example you used came from, so you can use examples from when you were working fulltime to give answers. Seeing as you still technically work for the company, I don't see any harm in saying "In my current role..."

Also as for the 'poor him' issue you mentioned, to avoid this make sure that you keep your answers as positive as possible. Talk more about solutions rather than problems, and how you have adjusted to the changes.
