Thank you all for encourangement..I now decided that for 90% I am not going to interview..I don't feel confident at all, don't have anything prepared so think it is best to leave it..it doesn't help that i had only 2 days to prepare..phone call at 10 am on sat, sunday had to go for all day to london to attend other commitments so it just gives me today and interview tomorrow 8.30 am!! unlike regular job interview i can't just hopr that i'll say anything and it will be ok..plus it's about £15 for train ticket..all in all everything against..but worried that it affects my jsa if they found out that didn't go to interview? plus i really needed and wanted this job:( did you guys have more time to prepare or just 3 days like me? thank you0

Hi, notthebest what is your employment history? just wondering because it might help us to give advice about your answers to the competency questions.
It is very daunting, I only had 2 days notice for the interview, but to be honest I didn't really get chance to prepare that much, it was a busy weekend being my daughters birthday etc. If you really want the job surely its worth giving it a shot.( Im not trying to sound patronising either because I don't want to sound smug either)0 -
I was just wondering if any of you who had an interview in May in Liverpool for the DWP AO jobs have started work yet? If not, are you still waiting for your interview result letter?0

In the interview tell them what the situation was e..g. I was working at..... as a ........... . Then you go on to talk about the task the customer said .............
I asked her questions to find out more. I told her what the options were that ................calmed her down and gave her a refund/voucher.
She called later and spoke to my colleague and said that the customer service advisor (I) was very helpful and she feels better that this issue has been sorted.
Something like that would be great for the delivering great customer service competency. Thats all you have to do for each one and if they require any more info they will ask you further questions.0 -
mech appreciated gadsey..the customer service competency seems the easiest one however and i came up with examples for this one.it's the others which seems so complicated to me.
Building capability - is it about developing skills ?
Managing people and performance - ??
Analasing, improving and changing -?
Thank you.0 -
Ok building capability is about a time when you have had to improve your skills in your studies or at work.
For example to develop your IT skills at college the tutor said for me to succeed on the course I need to build on my IT skills as I only knew the basics of spreasheets. To enhance my skills I bought books and spent extra hours enhancing my knowledge at home. I also took part in courses outside college which made me better in this area.
For Analysing improving and changing.
Think of how you used to improve your performance at work. This could be done by watching other colleagues and by regularly keeping up to date with stock changes in the business.
I havent seen the full managing people and performance competency so dont know what is it to do with.
Anyway ill sent you my notes in the next hour or so that should help more.0 -
Hello I was like that also when I was going to go for the interview but with a bit of help I understood what I would have to say. I would definatley go if you can give examples for each competency youll be ok they'll also prompt you if they need to know more.
I went to an interview recently with the same questions and I followed the following format for each competency question.
What they are looking for is you to tell them four things...
S - Situation - what happened, what was the problem?
T - Task - what did you need to do?
A - Action - what did you do?
R - Result - what was the outcome of the action you took? What did you learn? What would you do differently?
If you apply STAR when answering the questions you should do just fine.
By the way i copied this from an earlier post!!
If you want to see a copy of my notes if you give me your e-mail address i'll send them to you.
Hi Quadsy can you send me a copy of your notes too. thanks0
