newbyteacher wrote: »Hi I had my interview in June, sat the tests then filled in CRB etc, ( actually the guy did this for me to speed process up). Then I had my interview I was really nervous but my 2 interviewers were lovely, the questions were based around delivering good customer service/dealing with difficult situations and deadlines. I have always worked in retail, but answered questions with things I had dealt with in my retail experience. I know it is easy for me to say, but try and relax a bit, they will try to put you at ease and they will ask more questions about the situations to see how you handle things. Good luck to everyone having these interviews.
Ps I start my AO training on 4th August! I am more nervous about that than my interview.:rotfl:
Wow congrats :T do you remember by any chance which date you received your success letter? and how long it took for them to make decision. I'm really keen and want to start as soon as possible (sound bit desperate lol). I received letter regarding pensions other week and sent it off. Also what should we expect when they call you, do they ask for when you want to start, and the location, or is it all down to them, considering when position becomes vacant?0 -

Stop right there! Don't be so negative, I applied for an EO post back in March and was invited to attend Numeracy and Literacy tests on the 17th April 09, the test centre was in Norwich, 50 miles from where I live. I attended and was informed that day that I had passed the tests and then invited back the next day (Saturday 18th April) for an interview, again in Norwich. I attended this, again incurring the costs of getting to and from Norwich. I had no time to prepare as I had to work Friday evening, I just went into the interview with a positive attitude knowing that if I had got successfuly passed the sift and the Literacy and Numeracy tests then I was more than capable of doing the job I was being interviewed for. I recieved a letter dated 26th April telling me I had been successful at the interview stage and, after months of waiting and chasing up Newcastle, I start as an EO on Monday 20th July.
Dont give up, especially before the interview just because you don't think you can do it, if you have got this far then the simple truth is that you can do it, just go and chat to the interviewers, it's not an oral examination, it is a chance to showcase what you can do and how you have demonstarted your skills in the past. If you are worried about the cost of getting to the interview have a word with your local JCP or your JSA advisor if you have one and they may be able to help withthe cost. But whatever you do don't let this opportunity pass you by. Your pessimism is actually annoying, do you realise how many people didn't even make it to interview stage?0 -
Can I ask when people got to choose locations?
I had my interview last week and filled in CRB, Health check and pension forms.Plus another form.
The job advert just said West Yorkshire, at the end of the interview which was done by Capita I asked about locations and they did not know, only that it should not be more than an hour by public transport.
Think interview went ok, but so many people 150 and not sure how many jobs, capita did not know.0 -

I have been one of the luckier ones in all honesty, the turnaround was fast. They offered me another area first but I declined it, as 1. I didn't apply for it and 2. I would have to travel too far and it would cost too much in parking/public transport. He then offered me the area I had originally applied to, no fuss he was a lovely man. Good luck to everyone!:beer:0
