• I've just received the exact same letter, via e-mail.

'We are currently updating our records and wanted to inform you that you are now on our waiting list for the above exercise.

Unfortunately, as a result of a review of Jobcentre Plus’s staffing requirement, we are not in a position to offer you a job at this time. I appreciate that this may come as a disappointment to you. However the waiting list does not expire until 30/06/2010 and we will be in touch during this time if an opportunity arises. If you have not heard from us by this date then unfortunately we will not be able to offer you a post'.

Has anyone who receives this letter actually gone on to get a position??

Suggest that we all email the new governments DWP head honcho
Rt Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP.
(Who is obviously going to sort out the previous governments mess and create jobs for us all)
He can be contacted on alambridesl@parliament.uk (his private secretary)

I start at DWP later this afternoon ON £129,653 pa and unlimited funny face biscuits !!
They only want me to work one day per week but this may be increased if I am willing to get out of bed before 9am - And wait for the chauffeur to ring my doorbell......
• Hi have trawled through many examples with reference to DWP EO jobs but still need some advice please guys :S Has anyone had an application form recently ? They seem to now be asking the competency based questions on the application form ? ie
I have looked at the framework etc and there seem to be loads of sub categories under each heading anyone shed any light on how to apply/answer them? Do i just pick one from each comp?

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works - but DWP is not actually taking on new employees at the moment !!
and probably never will again - in the short term at least....

You are correct - thanks for the info
I went through the whole procedure 2 years ago - and passed but joined the many (1000's) who got dumped on when all the posts
were withdrawn at the last minute !!
I was CRB'd etc at DWP's expense
Can we trust them not to repeat the joke ?

I am trying to find an email address for someone within DWP who might have some idea whether any vacancies are likely in my local JCP - The email given by someone previously in this thread "bounces" - in fact I have spent a considerable time scanning DWP's website and it appears to be a case of "sloping shoulders"..... I cannot locate a single email address for anyone within DWP Recruitment....
Is it still run by "MANPOWER" ?

I currently work for the DWP and we were told to access the civil service website and register if we were interested in any roles. However, all jobs will be advertised externally this week at the JC+ or so we were told.
