I have discovered that MANPOWER are NOT the contract holders for the interview procedure
Does anyone know who is ?
and whilst I agree with charityworker that some of the present DWP employees need the proverbial kick up the backside - there are plenty of decent hard working people who are more than willing to help those less fortunate than themselves - If you are sucessful and get a job - it is your choice, which group you choose to join....

    Sometimes they use Capita.

Its possible they may being doing this in-house though, they did that in till early 2009 after that they tended to be outsourced but not always.
  • Interviewing is being done in house. The reason the jobs are external straightaway is the DWP needs 4000 more staff, not 4000 band B to band C promotions. I would say theres a reasonable chance of some band B recruitment in the near future, i dont know for sure though.

Is that down to the size of the department/number of applicants? Whenever I've gone to interviews within the CS it's always been staff of that department, I'm quite surprised to learn DWP outsource..

I'm not actually sure, DWP recruitment exercises are just plain weird sometimes, 7 were in-house, 2 were outsourced.

These were for a mix of positions AO through to Grade 7.

Both the outsourced ones were for an AO or EO grade but the previous exercises that year were in-house. If I recall that year they recruited 12,000 staff in 3-4 exercises in each of the districts.

The band b vacancies will be out once the band c's are sorted so they know how many they need. Some band b's are going for promotion so once they have a figure for the band b's they need these will be advertised, my guess is around the end of Feb.

I think its likely to be around March due to the time it will take to complete all the sifting, interviews and the acceptance of job offers.

From application to job offer was normally around 3 months during the last big series of recruitment exercises, some people I worked with had to wait 6 months between application and start date.

Why can't the Civil Service be uniform? These current ones are band C, but where I am; that's a band D...Band C2 is above D.. I'm guessing below a C in DWP is D? That's an E for me.....:E

The DWP adverts say EO/band C. Where I work an EO is a D grade job. A band C job is above a D grade :o.
An AO job where I work is a E grade/band job.
