Was it a specific job centre you applied for or just an area?
I remember somebody on here ages ago phoned the job centre they applied to and spoke to a manager who told them exactly what was going on and that there weren't any jobs. They also told the person that they weren't obliged to tell anyone this information, which is the scary thing.
We might be pestering Newcastle who will always say that our details are being passed on and it's out of their hands which it is with regards to that, but we may never actually be contacted by the people who are supposed to be contacting us.0 -
I'm afraid that all my endeavours to get details of who the local contact is, or even "where" the local contact is have come to nothing.. I even ask each time im in JCP to sign on and they look sheepish and say they dont know who it is.. which is obviously twaddle.. - as all the departments use withheld numbers, even if you get the call you cant call back or pass the number on either..
So much for the policy of openess and transparency huh! and I am sure competencies say something about providing a professional customer led service.. another load of spheroids they spout but don't think applies to them..0 -
If I don't hear anything by the end of January (as promised) - I will contact my MP and give him the whole story
I suggest that everyone does the same - since this is an unfair position for us all to be left in (4 months in my case) - Don't they realise the stress that this is causing us all ?0 -
Vacancy: Examination Assistant £20k, London. PM for more details.0

I thought i would add, i have been waiting for a while myself, but when signing on in December a new worker in there told me he had been waiting 5 months and was only just given that role.
It looks like waiting it out might be the only option0 -
waiting out is an option, but there is also people here that havent got the role at all.
im also waiting till end of jan, call AGAIN and if they say the same thing just give up, a job is not something casual, its extremely important and theyre not taking it seriously enough.0 -
I got an email reply and it contained the following:
With regards to recent Jobcentre Plus recruitment, it was initially anticipated that Jobcentreplus would be in a position to offer posts to all candidates successfully completing pre recruitment checks for these selection exercises. However the advertised Recruitment opportunities within Jobcentre plus have generated extraordinary levels of interest and applications. Whilst recruitment activity has not ceased, the significant number of successful applications for these posts, as well as the size and complexity of locations and positions available, has necessitated a full review of Jobcentre Plus staffing position and has resulted in delays in contacting candidates to offer start dates.0 -
Also at my local job centre today i have been told again they are short staffed and have been for months. I don't know why they don't get a move on and fill the position they obviously have.0
