Job Interview with DWP

Got a letter this morning saying I'd been successful, but it says pre-recruitment checks to confirm whether they are able to offer me a post...what does this mean?
Also anyone know the starting salary for EO? I remember on the job description it said 23-27K can anyone confirm and what is this salary dependent on?
THe starting salary for EO grade is £20,200.
It is £22,000 (approx) if you live in certain arears where the salary is weighted due to higher living costs (I believe parts of the country close to London fall into this bracket)
It is something like £25k (approx) if you live in inner London, as mentioned above, due to higher living costs.0 -
Yeah. I worked as an AO for a couple of years a few years back and the job was quite simple, I fell out with the managers though and got a new job somewhere else.
After being made redundant thought I would re-apply, first I went for an AO position but I didn't prepare properly at all (completely forgot about the competencies) so I expected not to get that, in fairness I did not expect to get this one either because I completely blew the interview.
Wasn't totally helped by the last minute changing of questions and the fact that three of the questions seemed to relate to the same competency but I've got no-one else to blame but myself for not having a wide range of answers (though perhaps my answers seemed as if my skills were not transferable anyway, I worked in Health and Safety for a few years and most of my policy/procedure answers came from that experience).
I'm pleased for everyone here who has gotten their positions, I guess I'm just generally annoyed at myself because I pretty much blitzed the assessments and my interview ability must have gotten pretty crap given the fact it's been nearly 6 years since I had my first AO interview. I get the feeling I'm too honest in interviews, I don't even embellish my achievements and I always tend to ensure I get everyone involved and give them credit. I gave plenty of "I did this" answers in the interview but, well, clearly I wasn't what they were looking for.
I suppose it's a sign and I should take it as such. I didn't enjoy my first spell in the DWP and it's because I felt the EO's were incapable (this isn't a bitter rant, I sincerely wanted the job, not least because I could've relocated to be with my partner who is working away from me at the minute). It's just when you've been redundant / unemployed for a number of months it's hard to take the positives from anything!
Good luck with the AO role, I'm sure you'll do great, sorry for being so negative!0 -
i went for the EO 62668 position and just got my letter in the post this morning saying i had been unsuccessful, im gutted but just want to say i didnt get any letters in the post prior to this so if ur one of the ones who got their maths/literacy results in the post first it doesnt mean you failed the interview!
good luck everyone.0 -

Hi Trey,
when and where did you go for your interview for IRC62668?
I went on 12 Oct and haven't heard anything but judging by the posts on this forum it's still early days!!:rolleyes:0 -
i also applied for the AO post 62979 three weeks ago. i hadnt heard anything and when i got my unsuccessful result for my EO post this morning i thought id better phone up to see why they hadnt contacted me for AO. so after getting transfered and holding a lot they told me they had my application but nobody had processed it!! and that they would call me back (yeah right) Manpower are pathetic, id heard stories of incompetency before but never experienced it myself until today! and obviously im not expecting them to process my application now that theyve found it0

hi, my interview was on the 9th october at Thistle Hotel in Barbican, dont worry i think the results have just come out so expect them very soon! i wouldve said by friday but theres going to be a strike so id say you'll get ur results by monday/tuesday. goodluck by the way!0 -
thks Trey. I will be waiting by the letterbox now!
How did you feel your interview went? Do you come out with a positive feeling? Did you feel you were you able to address the competencies in your responses? Just trying to gauge what they may have been looking for.....so sick of not having a job right now!0 -
i felt it went ok, not the best, i wasnt entirely confident with my examples relating to the competencies. they didnt prompt me much, maybe just three times throughout so i thought thats a good sign but obviously not! at the end of the day nothing nobody says here or advises you matters, what matters is your ability so just have faith in yourself and if not then i hear they are gonna re advertise for this EO post soon because too many people failed the lit/maths test and they're short of staff! some people had around 3 interviews before passing! that gives me hope! let me know how you got on when you get ur result!0

Very true Trey, very true!
I will definitely let you know the outcome. Interesting that they are re-advertising for the post when half the people the interviewed initially don't even know if they were sucessful or not.....a bit of a farce really! Unfortunately a farce that us unemployed folk have to contend with for now.....
Good luck with the AO post!!0 -
Hi all
I found a lot of useful information here in the last few days but I’m still nervous about the tests and possibly the interview I’m going to have tomorrow.
I have a lot of experience in Customer Services but I still think it might be hard to give them the right examples even though I went through all the competencies. You never know what the questions might be and even if you have the examples ready (for each competency) you might not know how to associate them with the questions because, let’s be honest, one good example could cover them all.
I’m a bit concerned, not having this type of interview ever before, but thank you for all the posts here. It eased the tension a bit.0
