Unfortunately, a HEO job interview is going to be a lot tougher than an AO. Don't be surprised if you're asked to do a presentation, and are grilled by senior management etc. HEO within DWP is quite a high grade, it goes as follows:

AA (Admin Asssistant - deals with filing, photocopying, looking for documents, etc)
AO (Admin Officer - deal with day-to-day dealings with customers, process benefits, etc)
EO (Executive Office - often in charge of a team of AOs, or doing another "specialist" job (Personal Advisor in JobCentre, etc)
HEO - (Higher Executive Officer - often in charge of a team of EOs, who in turn are in charge of AOs, so you could have 100 staff underneath you)
SEO (as above but one higher, by this point you're nearing the top of the tree in you particular office)

The above is just rough and how it works where I am.

I realise that aspect, but am not going for an AO role, like i said thats a colleague of mine.

Am used to presentations to senior managers and directors alike. Ran a team of 50+ previously, so have no worries about the HEO role in anyway.

I went on the 9th, and am too yet to hear anything.

Although today, curiously, I got what I thought might be "the letter" but it turned out to be a confirmation that I had passed the selection tests?! A bit odd considering a) I already received one of these letters immediately after passing them b) this was before my interview which was 12 days ago now!

I too recieved a letter dated 19/10/09, I initially thought it might be the letter I was waiting for however it was the test certification letter confirming my test results. My interview was for EO IRC62668 which was on the 12th so did I fail my interview?? I am confused. Anyone else in this situation??

The letter you have got, you would have been sent it regardless of the outcome of your interview. This letter proves that you have passed the literacy and/or numeracy testing meaning you will not have to take them again if you were to apply for another position in the future.

It will probably be at least a couple of weeks from your interview before you hear anything.

    Hope this helps..

Got a letter this morning saying I'd been successful, but it says pre-recruitment checks to confirm whether they are able to offer me a post...what does this mean?

Also anyone know the starting salary for EO? I remember on the job description it said 23-27K can anyone confirm and what is this salary dependent on?

    Congrats Gray FOx!
I am at work now but my husband just said I have received the letter and I was unsuccessful. I am so depressed.

Could you let me know how can I find out why I was not successful and what were your examples?

    Congrats.

Oh I'm nervous now thinking I should expect something soon, subject to post of course, though I'm now beginning to think the other letter was a bad sign if people are getting their results now, especially considering I too got the same letter as Miss Ray. Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess.

The starting salary is about 23k for EO in London, though I'm not sure what it is dependent on if anything, I just assumed that's what you start on.

As expected, got the letter and I haven't been successful.

Seems like a common theme so if you've received a letter giving you your initial assessment scores, expect the worst, no offence.

Don't worry there will be plenty of opportunities. I think I did pretty well considering this was my first interview after nearly 4 years. I have an interview for AO position soon so let's hope I don't fail that one. Did you apply for the AO role?
