    Hi
I had my interview in Sutton Coldfield 16/09/09 and it has been 4 weeks now and no response so far. I tried calling the number they gave me and it just rang out for over 5 minutes. If you hear anything, please let me know and I will do the same for you too.

    Thanks!

It is so frustrating, i have given up phoning them now! If I hear anything I'll let you know

  • Has anyone heard anything about the birmingham/Solihull roles? Think it is IRC62504

Interviews were held at the Ramada on Penns Lane Sutton Coldfield in September

    Thanks

    Hi Wendy,

Thanks for the reply. I found an e-mail address on one of the fporums. So I e-mailed them and received a reply saying:

Thank-you for your email regarding IRC62504. I can confirm that the results for this exercise have yet to go out but are due to be released towards the end of next week.

In the meantime if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Many thanks

So, you never know, we may hear something within a week or so.

Just thought I'd ask another question. Applied for IRC 62668 and when filling in the paperwork it obviously included the preferred area to work.

I live oop north but if successful will move down to the Greenwich area where I have family - I asked what would be the easiest to get to on the list so I ticked Central London and "London East" (I think that's right anyway, feel free to correct me).

Does anyone know what the offices are in these areas for the role IRC 62668 and which if any are reasonably accessible by foot from London Bridge?

I'm really worried about the job interview I have with DWP this Wednesday for an AO post!

I was called by Manpower who gave me the four competencies in which I would need to give examples of aspects in my life.

I have prepared some examples which I believe to be quite good but being unsure is making me nervous!

Would anybody who has been for an interview, please share with me your tips? x
  • Use Single examples - i kept being told "One Specific time/example" when i started waffling on my examples (for E/O) - then again i was succsessful so waffle away ;)

Give your examples a structure - a situation (beginning), an action (middle) and the result (end). They're huge on that kind of thing and I think it helps in not only remembering your examples, but just ensuring they're precise and to the point - which they also like.

It's called the SAR System (also known as STAR) - read up on it and try and fit your examples into the system, as that should be a huge help :)

    Hi there, don't panic!

I work for DWP and have just been through the promotion process, hadn't had an interview since my last promotion 9 years ago and I got the job!

They are looking for you to to tell them an example of where you've done these things.

You'll need to briefly explain a situation, how you dealt with it and what the result was. Have you got an example for each that you want to use? It doesn't have to be anything too complicated or long winded, if you post your examples I'll try and give you an idea of what they will be looking for.

Shaheen no offence but you dont know what it means to engage with customers ?- sammy will be able to advise you more on what is expected but basically they want to hear examples of when you have successfully communicated with business clients and also customers. In the DWP this would be probably employers and people on benefits.

Building constructive working relationships - they want to know examples of you working with others - this can be with one other person or as parrt of a team.

I have worked for a Govt dept before and tho you dont seem to mention what level your post would be. I should point out that at EO level quite a high calibre is required and they would expect you to be able to answer and understand those questions.

These are common of the types of questions asked today on applications forms. Basically they want you to give examples of where you have done certain things or displayed certain skills or qualities. I suggest also that you look in your local library for books that help you answer questions that can be thrown at you in interviews and applications.

Good luck to all applicants here and on this thread.

  • I too have been through both AO and EO tests and interviews within DWP, and if you simply type "DWP Competency Framework" into Google, the first result breaks those competencies down into a lot more detail.

Luckily I had already been working at AO grade for a number of years, and as such had plenty of oppurtunities to gain the relevant examples. The interviewers don't mind you taking notes in (infact, it's probably a plus as it shows you've prepared properly) and what I would advise you to do is write down an example for each competancy, and in bullet points make sure it covers all or most of the stuff in the link above. Do a different page for each of the 4 competencies, and you can then flick to that page when neccessay as the interviewer will literally say "right, we are now going to talk about <Insert competency>".

Finally, the usual interview stuff applies, eg being calm, talking clearly, etc. I believe aswell as being marked on how well your examples meet the competencies, you are also given a score on how well you communicated.
