Courts Closing Down Sale...be quick

I agree that would be nice but unfortunately there are a number of creditors who have preference over the poor old customer - so there are entitled to monies from any sale of stock first.
The lesson learnt by all of us is in future pay by Credit Card or Visa Debit for everything.0 -
A news peice on BBC News Online essentially says that they weren't able to open on Thursday / Friday because of rowdy customers. They didn't want to put the staff at risk, which is fair enough.
THey have however, identified 3000 customers who can collect their goods from the stores...when things calm down enough to allow them to re-open.

I've just been down to our local one now. It isnt open but there is a security guard there awaiting the arrival of the manager!
It all seems a bit unsure as to when they will open to the public, there were a number of customers like myself who had paid for goods but awaiting delivery. All were quite calm about things, however were keen to see if they were ones with goods in the warehouse. If not, wanting to take the pick of bargains to cut losses.
I'll be back there in the morning!Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
PLEASE spend just a minute thinking about the staff of Courts.
Thousands may suddenly become unemployed just before Christmas, with no time to have prepared themselves mentally for this bombshell. Thousands of children may also have to adjust to a dramatic change of lifestyle and will not understand.
I sympathise enormously with those customers who have lost deposits and are demanding answers, and I am sure many/most cannot afford the loss and will feel that their Christmas has also been ruined.
For the bargain hunters ........ please think !
I feel sick thinking of these workers and their families.Bad Spellers of the world untie0 -
well said & i totally agree

if you have paid by credit card for goods costing £100 or more, you should claim against your card issuer under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Even if you only paid a deposit on your credit card, you can demand a refund of the entire amount from your card company. However, card issuers keep very quiet about this cover, and there have been numerous cases where they have tried to wriggle out of paying claims, so stand your ground!

I do feel for the staff at Courts. They are stuck in the middle at the moment. KPMG are obviously trying to find a buyer for the business, and if they do some / all staff may keep their jobs. However, if they don't they'll have to find new jobs. And all before Xmas too, talk about bad timing. Its bad enough when you know its coming, but for it to happen so suddenly like this.
Good luck to all the customers & staff of courts.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

saw this in our local paper
"courts has promised to deliver all orders to customers who have paid the full balance, and wose goods are already in stock.
The company will be unable to deliver foods not already in stock as it has no money to pay the manufacturers.
Administrators are advising cusomers who paid by credit card to contact their provider to seek a refund
and because of disturbances and aggressive incidents they will not be reopening the stores"Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -

I also really feel for Courts staff, especially at this time of year. I went down to the Stoke on Trent store today as I was passing through. There were some of Courts ex staff outside and they were really upset and quite distraught. They didn't have a clue that they were being made redundant until Monday this week. That includes the manager. So they really haven't had that long to look for jobs at other stores. Stoke on Trent isn't the most prosperous of areas so the chances of finding a position at another store that is opening is very slim. I feel really guilty asking this now but is this Sale ever going to go ahead?Never ever pay full price for anything and question everything at least twice!0
