thats the problem with most failed businesses...not because they are successful....in fact sometimes the opposite...but cashflow is one of the biggest killers of business....
if courts only took £50 depo for a £4K sofa then that may be their big problem...no cash...oh dear, sounds like a case of crap management!
To be honest i will be surprised if they arent bought by someone and do really well....though i bet the deposits will increase..£50 is CRAZY...10% is more like it!Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

Ikea really have taken a lot of business away from other retailers. But companies like DFS are also to blame.
Courts were always 'middle ground' as far as quality goes. Arther Llewellyn Jenkis is top-end and MFI being bottom. Furniture in courts always seemed a bit dated or naff. People have gone a bit modern now.
My dad visited a company which make furniture for places like courts.
There is almost no workforce, everything is done by machines. I was amazed that those posh looking tables are make from chipboard/mdf ... Any imperfections in the veneer are touched up with a marker pen and re-polished !
They didn't waste anyting.. all the dust gets sucked up and mixed with glue to make mouldings.. Must have been facinating to watch.
I feel sorry for these customers :
2.2 If you have paid in cash or by cheque
Unfortunately you are an unsecured creditor in the administration. This means that you will not receive any goods and you will not receive a refund as Courts is insolvent and has no money to pay its creditors. The administrators will be sending a report to all creditors within 8 weeks of their appointment setting out their proposals and the prospects of any money being available for the unsecured creditors. For the avoidance of doubt you will also not be able to claim goods from your local store in lieu of the deposit that you have paid.
