Hiya sweeties,
Can I join your happy band? This thread worked well for me last year.
We have one last crappy PPI infested loan to pay off. We're battling with the bank over miss-selling of the PPI (and the loan itself. Hubby went in for a mortgage review and came out with another crappy loan.)
We're trying to save up to pay it off early but at first I'll just count the regular monthly payments until we have enough to do that.
So....Starting with a total of £15998.76 I'll count down the total on the statement once a month rather than count up the amount we're paying.
What's really depressing is that, according to the paperwork, Hubby took out the loan for the princely sum of £16,000 in August 2005. We've been paying them almost £300 a month for 40 months and we still owe them more or less £16,000!:eek:
Fab!
I'm scaling back my hours though - so progress will be slower than it has been the past two years. I'm not feeling "quite" so frantic about our debts and motivated to half kill myself in order to pay them off as fast as I can. (I might do short bursts of frantic activity though!)
I need to re expand my horizons beyond DFW-ness whilst still making steady progress and not letting the wheels fall off our wagon. It's all about keeping a balance I s'pose.
I was really bummed out reading all of those Lists of the Year things in the Sunday papers at how much had passed me by whilst I had my nose pressed up against that grindstone!

Hi all!!
Can I join please?! I'm not going to try for 20k though! I barely earn half of that so it would be a bit difficult me thinks!!

Ahh good news!
Found lots of euro coins in draw but no holiday for us abroad this year.
Googled who exchanged but wasent overly optiistic on exchanging them one forum mentioned thomsan holidays do 1s and 2 coins sow ent to nearby town to exchange.
Thomsan dont
postoffice dont
Lloyds tsb dont
However tried Thomas cook and they do! Yay 20 euros=£17.03 in pounds was well happy travel agents must have thourght me mad.
Anyway got some stuff to post so saved some and went to barclays bank and paid massive £5 off barclaycard! So yes was well happy.
The guy who served me looked about 18 and badge said store manager and he looked like he was dressed for nightclub looked well dodgy and seemed surprised I was only going to pay £5! Hubby thourght it was bit dismall but every little counts. My min payment this month is 30 so got another 25quid but wnated to double it to 60 this month to make a dent.
Did waste £2 in greggs as hubby wanted bottle of pop but did get free gingerbread man for daughter as it was closing time plus I spent 70p on merrygo round which she loved and £2 on 3litre robinsons orange squash which we seem to get though loads but cheaper than pop!
So all in all good day realy pleased im hoping my postage tommorow come to £5 and I have some spare.
Need to start mega listing on ebay tommorow but positive start day 2 of 2009!

I'm new here but I am determined to clear my debt this year. I've been accumlating debt since I started uni in 1996 and now I owe £20,000.
I've joined this site because I need something to come back to, to remind me of what I'm aiming for. So can I please join your challenge? I plan to start with a massive eBay sale next week!
Thanks!0 -

Guesty, I will add you now - sorry I missed you!
Right, the spreadsheet (including guesty) is uptodate with all those who have "reported in" their progress to date and I am pleased to say that the amount we have reduced our debt by so far is:
£58,578.93
which, considering December is a difficult month, is a fantastic result!
Anyone who wants to update their totals, just let me know and I will happily amend the total!
