Congratulations Lemma!! That is an amazing achievement.
Let's hope there are lots more posts of achievement - this thread is very quiet again?

Well done Lemma. That;s just three grand less than I earn all year, so I'm quite astonished!

I'm slightly fuming as I have done an ebay classic; bought something and then noticed the HORRENDOUS postage. It wa sa harry potter doll from portugal; paid £9.99 for the doll then went to pay and noticed the payment was £13.50! Of course I have to pay but I hjave sent a miffed note to the seller asking how exactly they are justifying it.

Debts wise nothing; extra money coming in but it's being put aside for an MOT next month.

Just wanted to say hi and well done to everyone.

I can't believe that the year is almost up and I have made it to more than half way. Looking at my debts I realised when I started this challenge I increased my debt in April and October when my tax and NIC bills came in  (managed to pay them both off). I am still on target and really pleased with the progress I've made because of the support of this thread and other threads :j.

Planning to be debt free by July 2010:D.

    BB
Original debt at LBM July 2008, £47, 654.34. Debt at January 2016, £21,443. Barclaycard [STRIKE]£9,000[/STRIKE]£8,756, Tesco cc [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£1,136. Debenhams storecard [STRIKE]£350[/STRIKE]£263, OD [STRIKE]£3,500[/STRIKE] £3,000, Corp Tax £3,036, Study loan £1,750, Smaller debts £2,000.

Since my LBM I have not been fully committed so now I have had a 2nd LBM.
Aiming to be debt free by December 2016:D

Everyone has made great progress - and remember that for every £ you pay off, that is a £ less that you owe, and a £ less that is costing you interest every day.

For those who have exceeded their targets - well done!! It is a huge achievement and you should be very proud of yourselves.

For those still some way off, remember just how much you HAVE paid, and remind yourselves that without the focus you have had this year, you would probably not have paid off that much!

Keep going - a couple of months left still....so plenty of time for scratchcards, ebay, mystery shopping etc :D

    Hi Guys,
A very stupid, ashamed - downright idiotic Batfink reporting in.
4 years of battling away with my debt clearly wasn't enough for me - as I've managed to acquire a new one (or 2 actually). I foolishly thought I was self controlled enough to use my cards for day to day spending and pay them off in full each month - but all this 'free' money got me carried away again.

    So - FirstDirect Visa - £444.32
    Amex Platinum - £492.72
    Total: £937.04

They have been removed from the wallet, I've turned the heating back off, started walking everywhere and making my own lunches again - it's quite amazing how many bad habits I fell back into.

I reach the dreaded 30 at the end of next month, so I am extremely determined to get them cleared by then which will leave me pretty much zero for anything else.

I'll cancel them when they're cleared this time.

Hi Batfink, good luck for clearing those before your birthday and well done for spotting how it was getting before the debt got too big, I did the same with my capital one card - paid it off but kept it open **just in case** needless to say I managed to put 400.00 back on it. It is now cut up and nearly paid off for the 2nd time!

Quick update from me I am at 12162.13 paid off so far so 2837.87 to go in 69 days (roughly 40.00 per day) probably not going to make it but will get as close as I can x x x

    Thanks.

You're getting very close - even if you were to miss by a few £'s it's still an amazing achievement!

The first *day* I remove my credit cards from my wallet, I find a reason to - need is too strong - want one.

I like to use the 'Pay at the Pump' station at Tesco, as it's so much quicker and always seems to be empty. Usually, I pop the credit card in, fill up - and off I go. So today, I used my debit card instead. Sadly, this limits you to £59 worth of fuel. A very strange amount (it's £99 with credit cards). This isn't enough to fill up my tank though. I'm wondering if it'll help ration my fuel use....I'll have to drive more economically so that the fuel lasts me all week.

  • Having had a second income cut this year reducing my total income by one third I am not going to get anywhere near reahing this challenge but I shall keep making what payments I can and I have reduced my debt by a further £206.17.

I have also rejigged my signature to show my total debt including mortgage 0% loan from my Mom and CCs so as to accurately reflect my position and in readiness for the MFiT - T2 challenge starting 12/12/09.
