I haven't updated on here for ages, I've been a bit lost with it all, actually. For ages, my sig has read that I've paid off £1640. After sitting down and working it through I have good news - its actually £3,660! This is:
661 - regular payments to Northern Rock loan
3 - I asked Nationwide to change the way they calculated my overpayments (ie stop taking them off my monthly payment) and this is the result so far. Baby steps indeed ...
2000 - off my euro mortgage in France. I'm a bit confused about this one. Monthly capital repaid for the first quarter of this year was around E285 each month. From April onwards, its more like E435 per month .... I mean, thats very nice and all that, but !!!!!!? I really hate that mortgage.
1000 - overpayment on the English mortgage.
Anyway, there we are. A *lot* better than a slap in the face with a wet fish!
I've decided not to use the overpayments on the mortgage (now standing at more or less the same as the Northern Rock loan) to repay the N Rock loan - I might need that amount of money in a hurry if something disastrous happens (like my precarious retaining wall collapsing) and if I had to borrow it again, it would be at a much higher rate of interest. And it wouldn't *save* me any interest to repay early, so they can s*dding well wait for their money!:cool::cool:
I'm pleased with the debts going down. And as soon as Bones finishes on Sky One, I'll be stopping my Sky payment, and that can get lobbed at stuff as well.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Things are heading in the right direction, KC!!
Another £25 off the debt for me today as my payment to virgin 0% card was made.......:TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

I was thinking - we're coming up to the halfway mark in June - would it be possible to update the front page with how everyone's doing? We could either put the amount we've paid off so far or the percentage, or something like that. A bit of an incentive to get on with it and reach our targets and see how everyone else is doing? I don't know if that would be horribly too much work Hypno, if it is, I'll get my coat....0
