Well done Harrietbaby!
If I'm honest, my cunning plan isn't really that cunning. You would find it if you went back 3 gazillion pages. I have a car loan (see sig) for a lovely 2 seater car of mine (I was young and naive.....but it looks very nice!), however, my g/f is preggers and she doesn't drive. It makes no sense for me to keep this car unless I strap either my g/f, or the baby to the roof rack........
Therefore, I have decided to terminate my car loan and hand the car back (which should happen at some time this month) which would clear the car loan, and take me to about half way to my target. I can get away without a car thanks to nice family for a while until I get closer to zero balances......0 -
Congrats on the baby news - have a two year old and a four month old so know the baby will more than compensate for loss of 'pride and joy'.0

Awww, thanks. It's good to hear you are coping with two youngsters - it gives me heart (as I can't look after myself!)
As for the car, I will shed a tear when it goes, but needs must and through this site I have learnt that the material things in life aren't so important. I'd rather a nil balance of debt than a plush motor right now. (That can come later....;).....paid for in cash not credit)0 -
Slow month for me this month as we're doing up our study, so all spare cash is going on that. I can't tell you how nice it was, though, to go to B&Q with cash that I've put aside (money earned from £10 extra a day) and use it to get what we needed, rather than worry about where the money's coming from and try to do it on our accounts, or put it on a credit card. I think my DH is feeling the joy too....0

Glad to see you're all chipping away still. I think my debt payments have come to a grinding halt - just when I thought I was escaping the credit crunch without much more to worry about than a few spiraling credit card APR's I've found out today that, with immediate effect, I've got a £2,600 pay cut.
I'm trying to stay positive in that due to the fact that I have already made some excellent progress over the last few years it won't mean that I cannot make my payments - it'll just mean that the extra few £'s I had to spare each month probably won't be there anymore.
Oh well, even a minimum payment is a payment.

You are right batfink - even a minimum payment is a payment - and I am sure for many of us, there have been times gone by when we have wondered how the heck we can even pay that!
Also, if you are making your minimums, your debt is still going down - albeit at a slower rate than you would ideally like....if you can get through this tough patch without increasing your debt again, you really ARE making progress :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Morning everyone - today I'm going to list loads of baby clothes on ebay. Have always been put off before because they don't sell for much and the fees add up. However, now that listing is free for 99p items I can just put them on and keep relisting forever! Hopefully whatever I make (if anything!) can go towards the £10,000 I want to pay off. I'm going to count the £1300 I have paid already this year so only £8700 left to go - that's going to be an awful lot of baby clothes!
Hope everyone has a good day - off to buy some lightbulbs as have found candlewax all over the kitchen, where the bulb went last night and OH couldn't find a torch!0
