  • I'm planning to make some reindeer food this year (for the first time, lol).

I've bought some cellophane cones, red ribbon and white edilble holographic glitter - all from Ebay.

Good idea about adding some bird seed to the oats!

  • I have put in a clear food bag then cut a square of hessin and then with a red ribbon gathered it / wrapped it over the bag & tied it. Looks really fab and was so cheap.

I brought the Hessian for £2.19 a metre inc postage from ebay which would do a lots of bags. The ribbon was 99p for 10 metres delivered.

I added a tiny (and i mean tiny) amount of red and green food colouring to sugar so it gave it a hint of colour and sparkled. I've already tested it out whilst the boys were at school, the birds and the squirrels gave it a good going over lol
  • Ooohh thanks for all the replies!

Sugar is a good idea, as to is the hessian, not sure I would get it on time now if I ordered from ebay though.

Ok, so would I get sparkly sprinkles in Tesco/Sainburys? (my nearest shopping facilities)

Going to get some value oats and wild birld seed from Wilkinsons! :)

  • I had concerns for the birds too, but yes you can buy edible glitter used for cake decorating or coloured sugar crystals, cheaper still buy an ordinary packet of sugar crystals from the supermarket and colour it with a bit of food colouring!

*SNAP* Sorry Rainmac - just realised you have written same thing above! Must be a good idea! ;) I love the idea of Santa's special plate going on for generations, I hope it does!
