Hi Worried Jim,
I'm a non opener of letters / answerer of the door and phone too! I'm new here and I just wanted to say that I don't think you should feel ashamed. Everyone here is really nice and helped me face up to the big bad wolf that is my bank - because I realised I wasn't alone. Best of Luck to you!!0 -

Oooh, that's more like it! Juice up your posts with news of a new lady friend - that would be a fab new mission Jim. We could follow your journey! As you know, I am a boring married so have to live vicariously through others' romantic lives.

Hi and welcome ! Really pleased to hear that things are working out for you as well. Its crazy how we allow ourselves to get into this situation knowing that nothing good will come of it, I suppose were all like lemmings and do the same things. Have a good weekend and good luck opening that mail !0 -
well I've done something at work that I have never done or felt the need to do at any time in my working life today..... I've joined a union. Nothing particular has happened or is going to happen that has made me do this,I just feel that right now it's the right thing to do. Now it's not very mse as it will cost £10 pm but I do get some good services/benefits with this-
Free Income Protection Insurance
Providing members with protection against the loss of salary while unable to work due to sickness for more than 6 months.
Free Personal Accident Insurance
We provide a 'continental' scale of benefits providing compensation for varying degrees of disablement and death up to £20,000 with guaranteed acceptance.
Free Travel Insurance
Benefits include:- £5,000,000 Medical Expenses Cover
- £3,000 Cancellation & Curtailment Cover
- £25,000 Personal Accident Death Cover
- £1,500 Baggage and Personal Effects Cover
- £2,000,000 Personal Liability Cover
It's not often you can get professional advice from one of the country's leading law firms without also expecting a substantial invoice. Unless of course you're a member of LTU. We have arranged a package of legal services for members, which is free of charge. It gives you access to first class advice whenever you need it. The service is simple to use and completely confidential.
There are quite a few other services available as well, plus the added benefit of extra support at work if I need it. With all the economic uncertainty and possible ramifications of the Lloyds/Hbos merger I feel the £10 pm is justified.
Anyone else in a union or had any practical help from one ?0 -
Just had a call from ccs (never heard of them) they asked me to confirm my address and I asked why I should to which they replied that I have been dealing with them, I said dealing with who? At which point she said that she would end the call so I advised her to never call me again. Who do these people think they are?
I've googled the number 08704584285 and it come up as commercial collection services- should I call them back?0 -
Why?
You should never call a DCA - if you haven't heard of one that calls, i would say this was even more reason not to call them.
Might as well start the "all communication should be in writing only" mantra at the beginningAfter falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
