I have been submitting accurate metre readings every month, this is why the gas has gone up. I am on click 6 which I believe is one of the best tariffs going. I will keep an eye on how much the account is in credit by during the summer months. I am planning on asking abbey to see if I can take a mortgage holiday for 1 or 2 months as this will help me get on top of things. I have an up to date repayment mortgage since aug 2003, does anyone know how these holidays work? will I get 2 months off?0

You should do, yes, as long as everything's up-to-date and you meet all the criteria Abbey no doubt require. However, you might find that interest will continue to accrue. If you will the end, you must will the means.0

Hi Jim,
Just popped by and wanted to say I'm pleased your car is now ok and sorry to hear about your Grandad. Glad you got to hear lots of stories about him. I lost my dad 10 years ago this year and I still love it when I visit my uncle and he tells me stories of things he used to get up to as a young lad.
Keep your chin up. You have come so far.Sealed Pot Challenge Member 015 - Target £50 (2015=£70; 2014=£74.40; 2013=£61.76; 2012=£82.50)

I took a 6 month mortgage holiday. I can't remeber what they do...whether they add it onto future payments or add it onto the term. All I knew i was 'loads better off' for 6 months...mind you it was pre mse days and exactly where that 6 months money went is a mystery!LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0

As I'm sure many others here have done, I have just read this thread from start to finish....what a ray of light!
Its reading storys such as yours which should make people realise that anything is possible! Never give up, no matter how hard your day may seem, it will get better.
I'll certainly be checking this on a daily basis from now on to see how you are getting on, good luck!0 -

Hi WJ
Have just read your thread from the start - you have done so much already!
It's great to see how your situation has improved from being convinced you would lose your home to feeling positive. Looking forward to hearing what your major changes will be
Well done fella0 -
I am now happy about the finances (if been in trouble can ever be described as happy ). As I motivated and inspired by everybody's help I have decided to tackle another area of my life, My weight. I don't know if this is going to work but since sharing my inner most thoughts with complete strangers I've managed to turn part of my life around am I am going to try the same approach again.
I got big between 2000 and 2003. In 2004 over 8 months I lost 3 stone and went to a size 34" waist. Very happy with this.
Over the past few years the weight has crept back up to about 15 stone and a 40" weight. However, over the last 3 or 4 months I have been absolutely stuffing myself, I will hold my hands up and say it was 100% comfort eating as I felt so low and had very little self respect- I just couldn't care less everything was so bad may as well have another packet of crisps- and I mean multi pack.
Last week I had to buy some 44" trousers, now they are loose but I am disgusted with my self, but I am not going to wallow in self pity, I am going to loose it. As of this morning I weighed 15.5 stones (217lbs), this equates to a bmi of 32.8 which according to the NHS places me in the obese category and has some pretty serious health consequences.
Now I know I can do it as I have done it before all on my own and I have been trying previously. I have even been to weight watchers but I felt very uncomfortable being the only man and I couldn't keep a straight face after seeing Little Britain, I can see completely were Matt Lucas got the inspiration for Marjorie Dawes from.
So what I am going to do is stop with the rubbish food, report for all to read how I am doing, I will weigh myself every 2 weeks and just like my finances I will be totally honest.0 -
Morning WJ
Well done on posting about your weight it's a very hard thing to do I know. I still can't admit to others how much I weigh
I fell into a similar trap to you with comfort eating since my split and the pounds have gone on and I have just got myself back on track. Nothing too fancy just eating well and exercising. I have joined the weight watchers thread on here too hoping to get some support.
Good luck with shifting those pounds, if you are as determined with this as you have been with your debts you'll soon be slinking back into those 34's.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712
