  • I agree - if the figures don't stack up and there's no significant savings it's just best to 'stay put' (in my opinion anyway).

well I am going to wait till November and fix for as long as possible as by that point interest rates will only go up as the economy recovers.
Spoke with payplan yesterday and they are sending out copies of my soa today to all my creditors to day.

had a call from nationwide last night- asked for full payment, i advised using payplan and that soa had been prepared was being sent out and her mood changed instanly to being very nice and friendly- even offered me some advice.
Have decided to leave mortgage until November and then fix for as long as possible (may change mind later on !). Again must give all credit to Marjorie @ Abbey mortgages who was very professional on the phone when discussing options- a true credit to her company and people that work in call centres.

    Payplan works its magic!
You could probably do Marjorie a favour by telling her boss how good she was - these things get noted, don't they.

called her team leader last night and left a message thanking her for excellent service and that if anyone ever commented on taking a mortgage with Abbey I would tell them that there call centre is a pleasure to deal with.

Looks like my pay increase is going to happen, so i will be back on the salary I was on this time last year.
  • I really hope your salary goes back to what it was:j Still it has been an eye opening experience for you and you've come out on top:beer: Well done mate:D

Just had an unsuspected call from Abbey . It was Marjorie's team leader thanking me for the feedback that I left regarding the service I received and I have really made Marjorie's day, it's all to easy to complain (esp call centres) and sometimes we forget these are real people at the end of the phone and a thank you goes a long way. I feel like a pretty decent human being at the moment.

I have been trawling this site for opinions and advice regarding mortgage products and the current consensus seems to be when it comes to renewing my deal in November to try and get the longest fixed deal as possible 5/10 years if I can get under 5%. Who knows what will have happened by then?

Jim, just come across this thread and read from start to finish. Well done on the progress you've made so far! As others have already said, your story is an inspiration to others going through the same situation.

BTW - have you done anything about reclaiming your bank charges yet? Would be interested to hear how you get on with that.
If you will the end, you must will the means.
