I think there is a problem. Have just driven to work and its -4 there was no heat coming out of the car heater at all and the engine reached its operating temp very quickly- still no hot air. I pulled over and popped the hood, nothing dripping and there is water in the radiator which wasn't warm or frozen. I suspect a frozen pipe somewhere- I really hope there is not a major problem otherwise I am in serious trouble, cany afford any repairs or anew car, need the car for second job and have to drive 160 miles monday for grandads funeral. please sunshine come and thaw my car and leave it all working. please.
  • If you google that exact scenario 'no heat coming from car heater' you may find some suggestions. Good Luck.

What was wrong with it wj?
If you will the end, you must will the means.
  • Jim it could be air locked or even part frozen, may have got a lucky escape this time but may need looking at now so doesnt cause a problem soon.

Do you have a friend/family member that can check the antifreeze & if its got an air lock?

Easy to do & can save lots compared to a head gasket failure.

Dont want to worry you, just a tip m8.

I've got some anti freeze this am and will check the system. I was driving for about 2 hours last night and although it was still freezing everything was working fine and it is warm this morning and I drove with no probs either. thanks for the tip coffeetime.
I've added about 1 litre of fluid to the system (50/50 mix) and been for a run, i think that because the fluid was not topped up it created an air bubble and some freezing. will be doing 170 miles on Monday night so that will be a moment of truth. thanks for the advice.
  • I'm glad it's been sorted Jim. All the best for your journey tomorrow :)
    :j I hope my comment helps :T

Bad new. whilst working tonight the car started to steam up and even with the aircon I couldn't clear the screen. the car smells like the radiator ans although I can see no leaks or sludge in the oil cap I fear the worst. Will try to get to garage tomorrow but things aren't looking to cheery, dilema now is spend what little I have on repairs and miss funeral or get hire car and then lose second job as have no car. I cant see my family being very understanding. nice to see my run of increadibly bad luck has returned.

Can you get a lift to the funeral, or public transport part way and a lift the rest of the way? At least ask your family if they know anyone who is going (part of) your way, they will surely appreciate the fact that you tried.
