  • Just want to say Jim, that this thread is inspiring.

I don't often visit this board, but I noticed your thread and thought it looked interesting -what a long wy you have come in so short a time - and how supportive people are being. It really does one's heart good to see.

And now you are in control of your debt, they will be diminishing -and then gone- in no time.

I don't suppose as a young working chap that you will spend much time on the Pensions, Silver Savers and Benefits board where I normally visit, but please keep visiting MSE as you will have a lot of good advice to give others.

    Wishing you well.

Going back to your walk home under the stars - I've enjoyed moments like that and I wish you many starry, hopeful nights x
  • Hi Jim. Glad to hear things are going well for you. Would agree with the OP about the fact the creditors might start bleating at you - don't let them get to you - stick to the contact me in writing only line and hang up. Don't get into any discussions with them unless you fancy trying the 'winding them up' tactic. I love that thread! Best ever.
Anyway keep posting your progress -it's always nice to hear people's stories.

  • I've just read this thread from beginning, to where it is now, and WOW... I'm amazed at your change of attitude! You seemed so lost, and down in your first couple of posts... then you perked up somewhat... and now look at you! :D

Im so glad things are finally getting sorted hun... no one deserves to be as stressed and as unhappy as you were at the start of your debt-free journey.

Please keep us updaed... Your progress is inspiring to those who've just had their LBM! You really are a star :)

    Massive hugs... Keep smiling x

Back from 'op north ! had a wonderful time, first time home since july '07.
I have had a reply from first direct regarding bank charges, over the last 6 years..........

I had absolutely no idea it was this amount, I don't want to get carried away but I am just imagining what I could do with that money right now and how it would alter the quality of my life. I am angry with myself and with FD. However, all credit to fd as they did not cash my £10 chq.
I have no idea what the next step is that I need to take except I believe I need to claim financial hard ship- any ideas my wonderful friends ?
I have been given a couple of invites for Christmas day from family and friends, but I am going to be totally selfish and spend the day on my own by telling family that I will be with friends and vice/versa- this is not a money saving idea ( i am not that cheap!) but I just want some me time and not be surrounded by consumption- do I come across as a miserable git or does anybody see my point of view. As ever I have been reading everyones comments and remarks and I am still getting inspiration from you all.
On a final note tonight, the main issue with me getting into all this mess was when my salary was reduced in July by approx £2k. As of today I am fairly confident that I will be getting it awarded back as from Feb ( not backdated, just back to how much it was ).

do I come across as a misreable git or does anybody see my point of view. .

totally understand - it's one of the reasons i hate christmas too. You could consider volunteering too. I go to crisis every other year when my dds are at their dad's - check with your local volunter bureau to see what's on in your area.

btw you should change your thread title hon - you're an inspiration :)
