Wow ! Thanks everyone. I was getting very worried, especially on Wednesday when I realised I had less then £4 to last 3 weeks and a dwindling freezer supply. I managed to get £100 from my neighbour who is only too happy to help and it gives him great pleasure to know that he is helping out a friend, I just hate to ask but I have used his help 3 times now since September, help buying the car- which was just a short term loan as I could only withdraw a certain amount from an atm as the banks were closed. Again when I got locked out I needed to pay the locksmith and finally this week when I really had run out of dosh as I had just paid my £555 maintenance bill and then the car broke down which cost me £113- thus leaving me with less than a fiver.
I will be fine till payday now and will be able to make sure that I can eat properly. Thank you savingwannabe- reading your pm made me cry- thank you. I have always held a belief that deep down everyone is a decent human being and sometimes they just forget, but not you, decent to the core.
Miggy- big up the peanut butter !
Ironically I will be getting my biggest pay packet for 8 years this month. When I have more time this eve I will respond to the heart warming pm's I 've had.
Have a good day everyone- I will.0 -

Phew - I was getting worried there! Your neighbour, bless him, is a star.
I'm so pleased you won't be hungry, and pleased too about the upcoming pay packet. Now that the maintenance charge is out of the way (and hopefully the car behaves itself) I hope you can enjoy this oneMiggy

Delighted your neighbour helped you out. Have you and brothers or sisters who could take you to your hospital appointment later this month or did you get that sorted yet?0

I have a sister 200 miles away so unfortunately I have no help with anything, my friend was due to give birth last Wednesday so I imagine that she will be tied up come next weekend and my neighbour is 83 and house bound so it is all down to me- but I have it sorted, I'll just drive myself and if it is bad just cross that bridge when I come to it.0 -

For all those who have been working hard to pay your way in the face of the burgeoning tax system I thought I would share this heart warming tale with you all-
I came across a chap today who has been in the UK for 18 months on a Belgian passport (he is from nowhere near Belgium). When he arrived he was originally working as a cleaner (or so he claims) but lost that job. So now (for the moment) he is being supported by us to the tune of-
Child tax credits £633
housing benefit £1430.73
JSA £403.80
total benefits per month £2467.56
What's the betting that he is no longer looking for another cleaning job as he is made for life. Makes you weep.0 -
Toad. It is not right. Life has a way of sorting out those people. Honest people always get their rewards in this life and the next. (I sound all biblical don't i? I am a Christian but a bit backslidden)
Glad you are ok. Don't let anyone get you down mate. Focus on your health and chilling.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
I went to the local ATM early this morning, did it early so no one could see me getting rejected by a machine. Inserted Barclays Mastercard, selected £40 and prayed to the God of ATM's. When that machine started whirring nearly cried out "hallelujah" and then recieced my manna from Heaven in the form of two crisp clean £20 notes. Wohoo! Walked around Aldi holding my head high, no longer was I panicking about making my last £20 go all week till Friday, 15 meals for £20, I was planing on eating a lot of stuffing @ 45p per packet and hard boiled eggs, but no I am to feast on roast pork and cauliflower tonight with a glass of diet Pepsi.
Does anyone else pray to the God of ATM's when they are desperate, no, just me then? The ATM God is not the only one I have prayed to in the past, there is also the God of "please taxi driver, stop and pick me up" and praying outside a pub/club "please God of doormen, let me in, my friends are all inside" and my favourite-God of "please Lord, let me get in her knickers". I think its time for my medication.0
