Jim, I have spent practically all day hooked on reading through your thread, and have just finished...can I just say how inspiring you are (even though I'm repeating what so many others have said). I have debts, which I manage fine, but could be so much better (I'm trying to buy/move house too so it will get worse), and I've had my LBM from reading your thread and want to be a DFW!!! Thanks for showing so many people hope...I am really excited at embarking on my DFW journey now
Thanks also to the MSE site, which ROCKS!
All the best,

Wow ! Welcome to the club. There is a life out there for you after all this. You've had LBM and that is probably the hardest step to take, everything will now start to get a little better now that you are on the right path.
If you haven't contacted a debt charity yet stop reading this crap and call one right now- it will be the best thing you can do all year AND you will sleep better tonight I promise. I nearly have everything under control now and buy the end of the summer I hope to have everything in place, its taken me nearly two years to get here to a point where I can finally relax and not stress out, it really is about getting your life back on track. Very few of my posts are about debt and money now but they and it is always in the background but I have demonstrated that you can get on with living everyday.
Yesterday was a delightful day in the sunshine and lunch by the river (2 for £9 always mse) in the evening I attended a charity fund-raiser for the BHF -

and had a great time ( cos I won the quiz for the third year running) and at no point yesterday did I think or worry about debt/money and at some point in the future I hope that you too can have a day like that.
Enjoy the sunshine and keep smiling !0 -

Thanks Jim,
I've really decided to get my act together and am starting to save as well as cut back on stuff - for the first time in four years of working I have brought in a packed lunch rather than sending someone out to buy lunch...baby steps, and as Tesco would say 'every little helps'0 -
Just got my annual maintenance up to date, I was a month late paying £550 and have managed to write the cheque this morning, another weight off my mind. A new weight on my my mind is how will I get through the next 25 days with £230? I can see my self in Aldi a lot this month.0

Italian Police force have a new car for catching speeders-
Pity they couldn't find anyone to drive it-0 -
Why I am plagued by !!!!!! luck ? My car just broke down on the way home from work, £113 to get it fixed which now leaves me £120 until late May. I have to go to hospital mid May and will not be able to drive myself as they are going to mess with my eyes, taxis would cost me £50. Had enough.0

Hang in there my friend. You have been through a lot. There will be a solution:
Can anyone give you a lift? Ask a work colleague if you dont have any family etc close by. It will be cheaper than £50. In fact, can you get them to drive your car there and drive it home again. Does that affect your insurance though?
Is bus possible?
or Ring the hospital as they may have be able to ask a volunteer to drive you home? or an ambulance. I see patients waiting for this whenever i go to outpatients.
Or can you stay overnight at a friend's before your appointment (someone that lives close to the hospital) so taxi fare is only a fiver or so? And keep your car there whilst eyes are being fixed?
Goodluck,

Sorry to hear about the car and the problem with your hospital appointment, Jim. I hope you can get something sorted - the idea about the volunteer driver is a good one, a friend used to do this and never seemed to lack customers, after all there are so many reasons people don't drive when going to hospital.
With regard to the lack of reddies, have you seen Mbaz's thread? Great stuff. I know you're a dab hand with cooking anyway but maybe there will be a new idea or so there?
Also have you been over to the Old Style thread recently? They will come up with tonnes of ways to spread the money over the days.
Good luckMiggy
