    hello everyone,

My mind is very very busy today. Can I ask you all a question? Would you take a job for less money and standing if it would put you on the road to a job you've always wanted??

If you can afford it and it's what you really want to do, then I'd say the answer is give it a go! Is it the sort of job where you could supplement you income with a small second job? ...and would you be kicking yourself forever if you didn't go for it?

Not read through all the posts, but just felt i had to answer this one. I would say hand on heart that i would definitely go for less money if it puts you onto the career you want, but thats me.

I believe in life you should do what makes you happy and if the new job would make you happy and take you to where you want to go, then money is less important.

If it is in the field that you want to work in, knowing how difficult it can be to get in, it sounds like a good opportunity.

I have on several occassions, gone for less paid jobs because it supports my future career. In my most recent job, i took a pay cut of £1.25 less per hour, as it supports me in my courses and doing my diploma.

However that is only my opinion and only you can have the answer for you.

afford it? - on paper, yes
what I really want to do? - yes
could supplement my income? - probably
kicking myself forever if I don't go for it? - almost certainly

It is an apprenticeship as a sign language interpreter. Once fully qualified I'd be earning over £30K but it would be tight in the meantime.

I am going to an information evening on Friday about it. I can't concentrate at work because I keep mulling this all over in my head.

My parents are worried about how I'd pay the mortgage, but they have forgotten that I've had 3 pay rises since I signed all the pepaer work for that so on paper it would all work out ok.

The details of what it is all about are all above. I don't have all the information yet but I'm giving my brain a chance to digest it all before moving onto the next step.

    It's scary.

Seeing the job info, it does sound like a fantastic opportunity and like you said you would be kicking yourself if you didn't do it.

Although money may be tight if you get a plan of action in now whilst you can before it starts, then that may give you more clarity. That is what i did before i started my counselling course. I don't know if you have a spare room, but that may be a possibility if there are money issues. That is one of the ways i supplement working less in order to do my course.

I bet it feels like a long wait till friday, would certainly be life changing for you!
