I just had that Sygma bank uk (fraud) search added to my file, although I can't see if its in the ones the lenders don't see or not.

I applied to flybe back in september, and was declined. Not that bothered really as I have decided to wait 12 months tobuild up a greater credit rating before applying for owt else.

Can someone confirm that this does not mean they suspected me of Fraud or done a full search? I am geting all paranoid and wondering if I should call them or equifax?

ETA : That when I actuallyappled for teh card, I have 2 searches from Sygma, and 2 from Creation LTD or whatever it is!

Does that mean they did 4 searches as I wasn't worried about it til now....:-S

hi sammie,

if its the same as the one i had and i was accepted its in the part that other lenders dont see, its an unrecorded enquiry like a follow up to check id ect. or at least thats what it says. i dont think it does any harm it just the fraud section of creation finance checking everything is correct which in hindsight is a good thing. however one poster here yesterday did say they had an actual cifas marker on thier file from sygma

I'll maybe call Equifax lateron today and just ask where it is, because I am using the Capital One free thingymabob, so my actual file that I looked at in August - I can't see the changes, but I am alerted to anything that does change, and told what it is.

Did you get 4 searches as in my above post when they credit searched you? xxx

Well i applied for a flybe card about a month ago and got declined, my file was searched at the time time, Sygma and one by Creation which was just an unrecorded enquiry, anyway today got an alert from equifax and Sygma (fraud) have searched my file.

Ive queeried it wth Equifax

I applied for a couple of credit cards from the sub-prime thread. Looking at my Experian report I have 2 searches, Vanquis and GE Capital Bank. But then further down I have 2 entries in the CIFAS section from Sygma! Neither has a catagory number, there are reference numbers for both recordsand the reason is 'Application Fraud (facility refused).......one or more material falsehoods. One of the cards I applied for was the Flybe Card.

There is no search from Sygma bank and nothing to indicate a fraud search. What the hell are these companies playing at?

Oh that is bad.... I retract my previous statement regarding Sygma.

Were you 100% accurate and truthful on your applications?

The only thing I can think is that I might have got the month wrong that we moved into this house (2 years ago). Other than that, nothing.

Potentially, if there are differences in key information between applications then this could have flagged you up on a fraud database. The company (Sygma) then decide wether they feel is warrants fraud and if so can issue a CIFAS.

I would be VERY suprised if a simple mistake like a month difference in dates of residency would have caused this though. Only you will know what was on those applications and wether or not it differs (legitimately or not) from recent previous applications.

I would try calling Sygma... though I suspect as soon as you mention CIFAS they will probably tell you where to go. The whole CIFAS / N hunter system is a bloody farce, it's all to easy for them to add this info to your report and nigh on impossible to have it removed regardless of liability.
