    Hi everyone.
Just a quick one. I haven't had the chance to read the rest of the thread yet as my FIL is visiting and I thought I'd jump on here quickly while he and DH watched Footie on TV. Well my daughter is bored with the footie too and now she wants to go on her educational website that she's obsessed with (She's only 4! ) so I will come back on and catch up once FIL has gone home!

Still no news regarding Junior appearing, even though I had a pizza yesterday with jalepeno peppers and green chillis on, AND jalepeno peppers with cream cheese. They nearly blew my head off, but Junior still refuses to budge!! :rotfl:

    See you all later.

    Hugs to all.
I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!

  • Good afternoon! We had snow - how exciting :snow_grin :snow_laug :snow_grin It's pretty much all gone now, though.

DD is really poorly with tonsilitis. I've managed to book an appointment over the internet to see the doctor first thing in the morning, but it's bad timing as her GCSE mocks start tomorrow :o She's been in bed all day, hasn't eaten much, mainly sipped on ice pops.

DS and I are having chicken pie for tea, with HG veg from the garden and freezer. He found the last one of the 2007 Christmas puddings, so we'll have that, too :j

Our toasted sandwich maker is on its last legs - does anyone know if there is such a thing as a panini toaster that does sandwiches too  I suppose it would need removable plates.

Enjoy the rest of your days, Penny. x

    Afternoon :hello:

We had a dusting of snow this morning but it's all gone now - it's alternated between beautiful blue skies and horrible freezing rain for the rest of the day. The heating is very much on. Yesterday I had three heaters on at once, which is almost unheard-of. It's only a little flat. I've been here two years (today) and never had to have more than two heaters on at a time, so yesterday really must have been cold.

I made the lasagne out of Jamie's Ministry of Food last night and it was OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. I have just had a portion for my (late) lunch

Tonight am going to try the macaroni and cauliflower cheese out of the same book. I have only had the book a few weeks and already it is getting more use than any other cookbook I own. The fish pie is yummy, as is the pasta with bacon and peas. I'm going to try the chicken breasts with parmesan & parma ham next, I think

I have spent loads on groceries this week (double my normal spend ) but have done quite well on reduced goodies, and I don't think I am going to need to go shopping again for at least a week, other than for a couple of pints of milk. I am quite busy this coming week - out on Monday and Thursday, and going over to my mum's on Friday night for a concert near her, then staying over to go to her choir concert the next day. So my only free evenings are Tuesday and Wednesday, and as I'm out on Sunday afternoon as well, I don't really have the time or the inclination for a grocery shop. Nor, in fact, the money - with all the nights out I think it'll be quite an expensive week.

smoky - hugs to you hun, it does sound like your eldest needs counselling, and that's quite understandable. I hope you're getting support from the relevant people.
Soapy - hope baby doesn't take too much longer!
Penny-Pincher!! - how are you doing?

Right, I need to finish writing a review and then get on with some much needed housework.

    Rzl xx

Soapy - Maybe try starting a long and involved task e.g giving the kitchen a *really* thorough clean? When my friend had a baby, it wasn't until she started shifting the cooker out of the kitchen that her waters broke (maybe it was the excitement of getting a new cooker ...?)

  • Hi everyone.

No snow here but was told by my friend that there were a few snow flakes falling this morning but since our household had a long lie we missed it all.

was going to do roast beef in the SC but since we had a long lie have decided to roast a chicken instead in the oven. We can have the roast beef tomorrow.

Had to wash DS(3) bedding as he wet the bed last night. He is dry during the day but we cant get him out of nappies at night. We decided a few nights ago that we will just have to put him in pants at night and just hope he learns not to wet the bed. the first night he was dry but last night he was wet, thing is he won't wake up when he is wet so who knows how long he has been lying in the wet.

  • Soapy when I was pregnant with my DD my mum and I went shopping 3 days before my due date. She wanted to go into everyshop and we were walking about for hours later on that day my waters broke and I am sure it was because of the walking. Not sure if you have tried but maybe a long walk would get things started.

  • Evening Guys!

BargainRzl-I'm okay and thanks for asking.

OH is in the middle of doing the dinner and it smells delish. He has just finished the crackling...yummy:o He bought some swede/carrot mash reduced to 10p, so we have that too. Might have some tinned rice pudding later as we have a few tins that have been lurking for a while.

Our DW door has broken well the clasp anyway, so I have called the helpline as we took the extra cover 2 years for 5 years (2011) and they are coming out tomorrow:j :j :j ...excellent service. It cost £49.99 for the 5yr added cover and I think to call someone out would be more than that:confused: ....bargain! Will also ask about the cutlery tray as it broke ages ago.

I have asked OH is he could do an inventory of the freezer this week sometime so I know what we have in.

    Hope everyone is ok.

    Soapy-take care.

Saw DD(23 ) off on the train to Oxford about 5p.m. and hope her journey is not too bad.

Spent ages yesterday looking for a Christmas party dress for her and after going into a dozen shops finally found several she liked and one that she really loved in Monsoon!:j Treated her to it as an early Christmas pressie.

DD(14) got back from seeing her sister in Newcastle in time to see her other sister off.

Made a loaf for DD to take with her and also made some rolls for tomorrows lunch for the rest of us.

Pork turned out really well in the Remoska and made yorkshire pud and roast potatoes in the main oven, with cabbage, mushy peas and carrots on the hob.

The hobnobs were very much appreciated by DD and her student friends even though I did not add the ginger and cinnamon as I had done last time.

    penny pincher

Keep warm and rested and I hope the pain gets better soon.

    Hugs to everybody.

Hi Friends old and New and welcome newbies

Now back in Yorkshire and trying to thaw the house out. Just like us to time our return to clash with a cold spell. I managed to pick up the sniffles from our next door neighbour out in Spain who brought it back from a quick trip home to Holland, so suffered it all the way back, but starting to feel a bit better now, just left with a cough when I lay down. Had a very good journey back, makes you realise just how many peple we have crammed into our small island in comparison to France and Spain, which large areas of open space, and roads with hardly any cars on them.

Gentle Hugs Smokybabe you are right to get help for older DS and with the decorating, you are doing very well, but you must look after yourself too.

Hugs too Pen-Pin hope your pain is being managed and that you soon feel stronger.

My sympathies with your DD Pen-Pen I suffered with tonsillitis a lot when I was around her age and it hurts!

:grouphug: to anyone who would like one

Must go to Aldi in the morning to stock up the fridge and get some fresh fruit/veg, and set the BM to come on early so we have some bread for the morning.

Jayward and I have talked about a Donny market meet before Xmas as she enjoyed the quick meet we had (arranged in 48 hours) before I went on my travels. Anyone else interested?

    Off to watch Strictly results.
