i opened my Plus between 2 and 3 months ago. Last week I applied for a CC and a loan and both got approved. It was 99% due to my account conduct as i have nothing on my credit files and I am not on the electoral register. They did one credit search for the lot but it is one of those "soft" searches that cannot be seen by other lenders.

Is your credit really bad? I was wondering why you seemed quite anxious over whether or not you'd get a maestro card

probably because solo is rubbish compared to masetro.
  • My credit 3 years and older is rubbish due to splitting from gf etc.
However since then it's lots of green zeros.
    That's why I was concerned.

All credit card applications are now credit scored.. and account conduct is taken ino consideration.

I would leave the cc app for 3 months to build your score then apply however it will still do a search.
  • Just an update on the overdraft question i had yesterday.

Apparently the person i spoke to today in branch, again could see that there had been £200 offered and will put it on today (didnt do it while i was there) so am still rather dubious if it will actually be done or not.

The other thing that was strange, is that he said "it should show tomorrow" when i thought that they should show instantly. I have just checked my account on-line, and still nothing there.

Do they have to do a new application for the OD if it wasnt put on initially as it should have?

Good good, atleast i know it will be a Maestro then. Whats "Tesco Value First Direct" mean?!

On a seperate subject, how do Credit Card Applications work with HSBC? If i were to apply in a few months, is it based on my account conduct or is it all credit scored again?

I answered your question, did u read my reply?

Yes, i did get your reply - thanks.
I will wait a few months, and then make an application. Will need to have some money going in and out of the account first i think.

I'd give it 10 to 12 weeks, never go overdrawn, pay in a hefty amount each month, set up a savings account with HSBC and have a standing order going into that. Have plenty of money left in the account on the 7th of each month.
  • One more update on this.............

I have just spoken to HSBC on the phone, and they have said that a letter was sent out to me today following my visit to the branch, confirming my overdraft agreement etc etc, and that my overdraft has been set at ZERO!!!

Whats the point in that letter?!?!

Any why is this so hard for them to set it up for me?

I am now told that i have to AGAIN go to the branch to find out what has happened.

Can anyone shed any light on this??
