One question though perhaps for someone that works for HSBC - i was told that the computer had said i can have an overdraft up to £200 so i asked for £100 to cover the OD on the account that i am leaving. I have logged into my online banking, and cant see any overdraft on there at all. Is this something that happens at some point in the future or should i be calling them?
I'd call to confirm. Accepted overdraft limits are typically available instantly.0 -
Well i called them, and they said that i had been offered an OD in branch, but i said no, so nothing has been put on my account. Apparently i need to go back into the branch to get it put on?!
I also asked her to confirm that a Debit card has been ordered, and she said that because the account had only been opened today, then it wouldnt show until tomorrow.
I hope its not going to be a Solo card!!!!0 -
Dan, I had similar overdraft weirdness when i opened my HSBC Plus. The computer said I could have an OD limit of £1500. I said that was fine by me. But when I went into the branch to sign everything off they thought I didnt want the OD limit for some reason, so they did not put it on. When I told them that actually I did want the OD limit they said they'd have to put through another application for it. This time it only offered £300 or £400. I told them that wouldn't do and that I was really peeved. So they manually put in the £1500 OD limit. You might have to be a little firm with them.0

Hmm. Have you tried applying over Internet Banking or through phone banking (option 6 on the main menu, once you've entered all your details)?I also asked her to confirm that a Debit card has been ordered, and she said that because the account had only been opened today, then it wouldnt show until tomorrow.

She's correct, the card should be with you within a few days, I had mine about 2 days after it was ordered. If you've got a Current Account or up, you should have a debit card. IIRC, you've got Plus, so you should get Maestro, as we don't issue the swanky "Tesco Value First Direct" card with Solo.0 -

Didnt want to apply for something new if it says that i can already have one?!

Good good, atleast i know it will be a Maestro then. Whats "Tesco Value First Direct" mean?!
On a seperate subject, how do Credit Card Applications work with HSBC? If i were to apply in a few months, is it based on my account conduct or is it all credit scored again?0 -
In my experience, they did a search on me for my CC. I can't really say more than that to be honest, as I don't know their full procedures.
"Tesco Value First Direct" was a joke, in that the cards look a little bit like First Direct's, but are available to more people...0
