  • I managed to get a pair of tickets for RA-WB in Stuttgart (wohoo!!) although they are restricted view. Looks likely to be England/Swedan v Germany/Poland. Could probably get about 1k for the pair on ebay though I'd much rather go (even though im a poor student ;) )

Anyway I have got some quite cool accomodation on:

    https://www.host-a-fan.de

Much cheaper than hotels. A friend and I will be staying at a womans house 11 KM from ground/airport and it is only costing about 45 pound each for 3 nights. (15 pounds a night)

I would say this site is well worth a look as it is managed to save my friend and I a lot of money.

    I have a bit of a problem.

While this has nothing to do with the football and wanting world cup tickets, me and 6 of my friends are going out to essen to a festival that falls on the weekend of 22nd june. EVERYWHERE in essen and the surrounding areas are booked up hotels wise. Helps me please!
  • Cheapest flights I've found out to Germany for the world cup are with https://www.jet2.com to Dusseldorf from Leeds. Got myself a bargain return including tax of £60 for the final England group match at nearby Cologne. Not got a ticket for the match though, but I'm sure the atmosphere will be cracking.

    See you there

try this, although be careful as I might not have the right Essen!

that website is amazing for world cup hotels for less than 30 quid a night

we have booked the Rheinhotel Bellavista so we're 2 hours from gelsenkirchen and 1 hour from frankfurt and in a beautiful location near the castles of the Rhein valley - just what the doctor ordered. Add in a couple of jars of German Pils and I'm in heaven, and out of the way of any possible trouble.

Got allocated 3 tickets to the quarter final in Berlin.

To see England we need them to come runner up in their group and then beat the Germans - I guess stranger things have happened.

We are staying for 3 nights about 10 miles out of Berlin in a plush looking hotel with leisure facilities. Add on the flights and the cost of the tickets ant the trip works out as roughly £320 per head.

When I looked in early Jan after the tickets were allocated, I really strucggled to find any suitable accommodation in Berlin, as the best places had gone.

My first visit to a world cup!!
  • Can anyone tell me where I can find some info on the the fans areas where they are showing the matches?? hoping to follow englands games and am trying to get some info together!! thanksxx
If i helped in any way feel free to press thanks !

Germany doesn't really do buses, except for a few major routes, and Cologne-Nuremberg doesn't seem to be one of them.

Air Berlin fly between the two cities so if your friend can book well in advance, or get lucky with a cheap fare, it might be worth considering.

Another possibility might be car sharing.
There are organised car-sharing agencies in both Cologne and Nuremberg.
Some Germans use car-sharing schemes to keep down their petrol costs, others to reduce environmental impact.
It's certainly cheaper, at about 50 Euros return.
It's claimed to be very safe: drivers and passengers must register in advance, so their identities are known to the agencies.

The Cologne office of 'Citynetz' can be direct-dialled from UK on 0049 221 19440.
The Nuremberg office is on 0049 911 19444.

I don't know if they speak English (or if your friend speaks German!) but this may be worth a try.
