I was successful in 2nd ballot of tickets way back in November 2005 but on the fifa website my ticket order is classed as 'conditional', and payment has still not been taken for them. Is that the same for everyone else? I would like them to be actually confirmed before booking hotels and flights. I have tried emailing the help desk on the fifa ticket website but have had no reply.

Hi - new to this so be gentle !

I managed to book accommodation through a company who mainly uses hotels away from the main world cup cities (good for me, as prices in the cities were astronomical!). Booked in to Darmstadt for the England game in Frankfurt and Bruhl for the Cologne game. Also managed to book rooms in a small town near Berlin for the final (cheap!).

Don't think they do hostels or camping, but if anybody wants the company name let me know.

Just need to get my tickets confirmed now (hopefully!)

Does anyone know how to check the status of the online ticket selling websites?

Its my wife's 40th this year, we did not get tickets in the ballot and I'm considering shelling out the asking price of £325 per ticket for quarter final tickets (the one England should get to if they win the group and first knock out although it won't matter too much if we end up watching two other random teams)

Are tickets from sites such as this legit or am I in danger of getting fake tickets/no tickets/turned away at the ground for not having bought them from FIFA direct?

I have just had the following response to my query to that website:

"Please note that our allocation of tickets come through sponsors and federations around the world and not the general public ballot therefore are not name sensitive"

Not exactly convincing
