    That isn't correct I copied my certificate on my ink jet printer and it came out ok..

    But why can't people send the original? It's not as if we can use it in more than 1 place...

    No reason whatsoever not to use the original. Perhaps people are going to frame them and hang them on the walls in memory of all the fun we had with Icesave :D

    I should imagine people are concerned that the original may get lost in the post.

    I understand it, but I was far more concerned when I had to send my passport in the post to get my driver's licence... so used recorded delivery.

    Nowadays I just open accounts in new banks when there's a branch in town where I can go show my ID if needed... too much hassle otherwise.
