Speaking of Ebay - they have taken £35 out of my bank account for 'Ebay fees' which I have never seen an invoice for - have sent them 4 emails about it but they have not got back to me yet   . Might have to ring Paypal - I *hate* the way Ebay do not have a phone number - wasn' there a law passed that said a business HAS to have a phone number?

Morning all
(((HUGS))) to all those who want/need them.
Well it's been a very productive morning so far :T Kitchen has been cleaned, downstairs tidied and hoovered and my new fridge delivered :D It's not new, new but new to me. It's 4 years old, a good make, still with all paperwork, immaculate and cost a grand total of £35 including delivery :T:D The added bonus is that the lady who's it was is selling me her chest freezer for £25 :money: when she's got her new one
I asked at work 2 months ago whether I could cut my hours and was told that I could, but my new boss is all mouth and no trousers and still hasn't sorted anything out. I've therefore decided that I will hand in my notice if nothing has been sorted by end of next week and concentrate on finding something part time. I will struggle financially but my children need their Mummy and that's all that matters.
The rest of the day will be chillaxingI'm feeling a lot better than yesterday but am going to make the most of the weekend. We will go and have a walk and feed the ducks in a short while and then have something dug out of the depths of the cupboard before making a list of the cupboard contents and meal planning for the week.
Hope everyone has a great day

Thanks for that PP - how did you find it out? I've tried before with no joy.
Its on their main page very small printed on the right hand side;)....if you can't get through on that, I have a couple of others to try.
The last couple of days have been a bit of a blur, but feeling a little better today. The nurse has been in and out daily and the pain is controlled a little better now with other meds.
OS-The house is clean and tidy. Washing/Ironing pretty much up to date-think todays one can go on the line. OH has been looking after us all and he has made a chicken curry and rice meal, fishfingers & chips meal and a spagbol and garlic bread meal. Tonight we have hotdogs and nachos as we are having a HM cinema night:D
Have managed to bag alot of pressies this week thanks to Hotdeals. Managed last night to buyfrom Boots 3 Beckham gift sets, 2 Lancome products and a few other smaller items for £78 inc delivery then got £45 back in points:j :j :j Also managed to get DD & I new knickers (27pairs in total) and 3 gifts for the price of 2 (they had tins of lolly sticks for Charades with names of books and films etc on them) inc delivery for £23:beer: ....so most of our pressies are sorted now. Just waiting for a good bargain on DD's main pressie and thats it! Also bought 2 25metre rolls of brown paper from Ebay to wrap pressies in and will wrap with posh ribbon I have to make them look nice....it works to be much cheaper.
Hope everyone is well.

Morning all:wave:
Money spending day chez Thrift. Bloke just been to fix our boiler- £200+, OH has taken kids out to buy ds1 new football boots (he's a size 5 and has been wearing 3 and a halfs:rolleyes: ) and I'm cooking an expensive tea tonight -lamb shanks braised in wine. When I asked how much the shanks were at the butchers' he said £4.95 each:eek: (I wanted 5), so I said 'no thanks', so he said I could have them for £3 each (this was because he'd been unable to offer me his usual 8 for the price of 6 deal on frozen free-range chickens). Of course I caved in and bought them. Now they're marinating in a bottle of red wine -£20 for the whole dish, mind you that's £4 a head for a restaurant class meal. I went to Waitrose after the butchers' and found they were selling lamb shanks for around £2 each:rolleyes: We're having quince and apple tart for pudding which is costing me hardly anything -quince from the garden, hm pastry from the freezer, cheap local Bramleys.
Lunch is going to be some sort of soup I think. I've got some leftover gravy/juice from a beef stew to use up. I think I'll add some beans, barley and some veg.
I've put together my Christmas pud ready to steam tomorrow. Everyone has had a stir and a wish although OH did it very grudgingly, I told him he wouldn't get any if he didn't stir it. I think the kids were wishing for a wii. Unfortunately with all the unexpected expenses (boiler, new fence, my glasses) we've been having lately that might not happen, still they certainly won't be going short.
Have a good Saturday everyone;)
Edit: The amount of lamb looks far too much for us all particularly my dd. I shall take the leftover meat off the bones and use it as a ragu sauce for pasta or in a shepherd's pie. So, I should get 2 meals out of them.0 -
Afternoon Everyone
Well where is my snow I want my snow!!*stamps feet*
right now I've had my hissy fit I can get on:D
Been to the market this morning and spent loads on junk that I really didnt needbut in my defence I did need the retail therapy as its been a horrid week.I will attempt to be more OS next week though
I did get a bargain though as it was absolutely freezing in town and I saw a man selling those peruvian knitted hats and they were £4 each I managed to bag 4 for a tenner so all the kids are now wandering round looking like smurfs:rotfl: But from all accounts they are really warm
Now that I've eased my retail cravings I'll be off to do things domestic.I've got a couple of loads of washing to sort out.But I reckon its too cold outside to dry them so might have to resort to the TD:eek:
Its Saturday so its takeaway and Vodka night and watching X-factor so thats me a happy bunny with my pans getting a night off for a change:D
PP Glad that they are managing to make you more comfortable pain wise
JackieO-Your post made me chuckle as I am fairly well endowed in the boob department and having one removed would definitely make me unbalanced so I reckon I know how you feel about getting your new one.But be careful you dont take someones eye out with your new boobie:rotfl:
MSD Hope you had a nice chat with Tristan and hope he's still in fine form
Thriftlady- I love the sound of lamb shanks but with four tinies I reckon it would be too expensive and wasteful for my lot as they wouldnt know where to start:o

Well, still no sign of Soapy Jr. Hubby says I have to go and have a hot bath!
I'm getting so frustrated walking around like a huge round thing on legs. I just want to lose the belly so I can start doing things around here again. Obviously I want to meet Jr too though!
My windows need cleaning, the kitchen floor needs cleaning, the bathroom needs cleaning..... the list goes on. I did manage to do the ironing yesterday which means DD's school uniform is done for next week, and all the washing is hanging on the airer that won't need ironing, so once that's dry I'll put it away and everything is up to date in that department.
Mum has just been round to take DD to her ballet class. I find I can't take her now as my tummy keeps rubbing the steering wheel and there are so many speed bumps round here that driving is so uncomfortable at the moment. I drive a little Daihatsu van that I inherited from my Dad and as the driver's seat is right over the front wheel every bump in the road goes right through my body and Jr kicks like mad over the speed bumps!!
I'm so lucky that DH does all the cooking so all I have to do is tell him what I feel like and it is brought to me on a tray, bless his heart! I'm so lucky!
I have a bag of dried mixed pulses lurking in my cupboard though, and all this talk of HM soup is making me want to get out in the kitchen and get some soup bubbling away!
Hopefully I'll have news of Jr for you all tomorrow!
Hugs to all and thanks for reading! :hello:
Just editing to add.... did anyone see that "Now that's what I call 1983" on TV yesterday? It was brilliant to see Nik Kershaw again but why oh why did Paul Young mime to his song??
Everyone else was singing live but from the first line of Paul's song you knew he was miming. Big disappointment as he is one of my favourites and I was looking forward to his bit in the show. Mind you, I've seen him live a few times and the last time people were walking out halfway through as his voice was so bad. Maybe he just wasn't up to singing live on TV.I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
Me again, just posting my OS plans for today to make sure I Stick to them.
1) Make soup for next weeks lunches
2) Do the ironing
3) Sort out another box of books for Freecycle
4) Do a fridge/freezer audit & decide what to eat next week.
Someone please crack the whip if I hang around here too long.

Hi Soapy. I hope Jnr makes an appearance soon. What about a hot curry? Just wanted to send you a hug in advance for labour:D Have you got everything packed, camera ready, batteries blah blah blah? Sounds like you have a great team on board (OH, DD & Mum). Take care. PP xxTo repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0 -
Afternoon,
well SC bubbling away with beef & veg in ale sauce, BM going doing granary dough, so feeling quite virtuous now.
Redruby and MrsMix :hello:
MrsM, sorry you've been poorly, it's a horrible flu bug going round. Well done to MasterMix as well!!
Redruby - I bet Diva has good a good mulligatawny recipe... she's probably having a kip at the moment though.
Halight, sounds like you are doing a great job.
Jet77, good for you for deciding what you want & sticking to it. Life's definitely about more than money (as long as there's enough to pay the bills!!!) I'm sure you will feel much happier in the long run too. I can't wait to finish my degree next spring, so I can then work 3 days a week with any luck (rather than the full-time work placement I am having to do - much as I enjoy it).
PenPin, good to "see" you, hope you keep up a successful recovery. I was going to try the brown paper & ribbon wrapping this year too. I'd forgotten about Hotdeals, my mate showed me it once, so thank you for the reminder! I shall browse shortly to see what I can see...
Ravylesley, lol at your smurf family!!!
Soapy - poor you, how frustrating junior is in no rush!! Good luck though
I watched the 1983 prog, that brought back some early teenage memories!!!! Esp. KajagoogooAlthough Limahl was irritating me everytime he did the "hey girl" (i fancy myself something rotten) bit....
Anyhow, I think I fancy an omelette for lunch - that's what watching Saturday Kitchen doesLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0
