Thanks thriftlady. I'll merge this thread to the one you suggest.
If you want to feel really inadequate at what you put into pack-ups, take a look at this thread

I sometimes make Tortilla's or baked rolls(as I can make them smaller, for younger ones), I also make own small buns or biscuits/hob nobs. I also buy oranges but slice and put in a bag for them and buy a big packet of doritto type crisps and share out into sandwhich bags. Sometimes the older ones like cold pizza or quiche left over from the night before. They are encouraged to drink water at school, so I just send them in with their water bottles. Also I tend to take them a drink (squash decanted into fruit shoot type bottles), and some HM biscuits or buns for after school as we walk home (about 45 mins) HTHGrocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

many thanks bjb0 -
Mine love little tupperware boxes of fresh salad with chopped egg, chopped cheesy chunks and ham.
For 'pudding', some home-made flap-jacks, made with dessicated coconut and sultana's.0 -
Hi boredjellybean,
There's an older thread with lots of packed lunch ideas that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

My kids use small stainless steel ones - keeps the food hotter than the plastic ones aimed at kids - but are unbreakable - no risk of glass shards!!! I got them for £3.99 each in Tesco - I have also seen them in IKEA and Sainsburys.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
