How can I find the time to make these super-arty lunches :D:D

I decorate my daughter's sandwich with a nice shiny piece of foil

I should try harder ;)

They are good, but I really don't think I'd be able to find the time :D

They're so beautiful - I love the one with the three colours of rice and the waves, I'd love to open my lunchbox and have it looking that one of those!

I had time to make mini pitta breads with Greek salad for mine and my partners lunch boxes today, that's about my limit and I was really proud of myself for that ... I feel all inadequate now lol.

I do something like that for my children every day. It's what all decent parents, just like me, do. Shame on any of you for not bothering. Your kids will end up delinquents and have ASBO's as a result!!!!!

Ok I made that up to make myself look good. As you can see I am a member of the MSE Bad Mothers Club. My packed lunches have that earthy, flung together look.

Hangs head in shame....I'll get me coat:o
:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will.
  • We're lucky to get a packed lunch each day with the limited time I have!!

I have to say that I'm hooked on making these for my son each day. It's quite theraputic to spend 15 minutes at the end of the day putting together something that I know will brighten his day, and knowing that he'll eat every scrap of it. Since making these it's also worked out much cheaper than an average lunch box. The ones i have made are nowhere near as decorative as the ones in the link, but hey, they make us both happy :j

Oh, and bento is a traditional japanese lunchbox of either one two or three tiers. The aim is to fill the box and not be able to see any of the bottom of the box. The boxes themselves are quite small compared to a normal tupperware box but the idea is to cram in lots of little bites rather than say a sandwich, bag of crisps, apple etc.
