Whew! It's been a busy past few days here. Not sure that I got that much done, it just feels that way if you know what I mean.
I worked on budgeting and financing things trying to find more ways to tighten the belt. My better half has finally found a permanent full time position. Where we live, the economy is based on tourism and out of season jobs are scarce. Full time permanent ones even more so. Only down side is that he'll only get one week on his end of month check. The pay period is from the 15th to the next 15th. His pay is monthly so it will be very tight for the next couple of months. We will make it though.
We're trying to move into a new flat. Going to view it in the morning at 10.30. It's a larger flat and only £5 more than what we're paying now. It's just the factor of deposit, tenancy fee and first months rent in advance. We can do it but it will make it even tighter and use our available cash. Finding a flat in our price range is very difficult here as there is a large transient population with it being a tourist town. Landlords charge a lot more than they do further away in the non-tourist towns around here. We'd both love to move further out from town but we do not own a car now and it's definitely not in our budget. So we have to stay where we can use public transport for work etc. *We wouldn't move now but our neighbour from h*ll is getting worse by the day and we're both stressed with wondering when he's going to kick off again.
Made salmon cakes, chips and peas for dinner tonight. Comfort food on a cold night. I'm thinking I may do a big pot of beef stew tomorrow so there are leftovers for OH's lunch at work this coming week and some to freeze. Still need to make those cookies I was going to make a couple days ago. We're going through cookie withdrawals here now. :rotfl:
At this point it's going on 10pm and I can't remember who I wanted to say well done, hold on it's going to get better and all to. So big hugs for all who want and/or need them. Have a good weekend and don't forget to do at least one thing nice for yourself. xxxTake the first step.

Just take the first step.

I made stuffed potatoes and it went down quite well, we decided that more cheese would be better though. Got quite a bit of the filling mixture in the freezer so will be adding extra cheese when I make that up next time. Also made the ginger biscuit cake, it's setting in the fridge now. Quite excited to try it now! Got some whipped cream left but it doesn't seem like it'll be enough to make it worthwhile freezing so I'm debating whether I can be bothered at this time of night to make hob nobs and eat them with some cream. I'm am going to have to limit myself to one cake at a time in future I think! It's the weekend though so me and the OH will both be in the house
and no doubt eat the lot.
justpeyton good luck for the new flat and congrats on the job for the OH, sounds like it'll all be worth a couple of months of tightening your belt and imagine how much money you'll have for extra stuff once you get used to it! At least that's what I tell myself about not having a job atm (start one in Jan though)0 -
Well, what a day!
Didnt get chance to make the peanutbutter and jelly bars, or the chocolate weetabix brownies, but I did manage to make 8 portions of veg soup in the slow cooker, 6 portions of beef stew on the hob/oven (OH ate one for tea tonight), and 21 portions of meatballs in tomato sauce (did a double batch).
The freezer is now groaning under the weight of HM food - but the days ahead will be take-away free!!!!! So definately worth it for some future moneysaving.
Just watched the Taylor/Whitlock darts match (well done on Phil!!) and now gonna head off to bed as have work tomorrow.
Have a restful night everyone.
