Just had a letter pushed through the letter box - to the occupier, etc. It says that an adjacent unadopted road is owned by a particular company (based in the Isle of Man) and cars parked there will be towed away after 7 days from the date of the letter. Today is the 21 Nov. The letter is dated 13 Nov.
At least it is dated this year.
It doesn't (I think) affect dear heart and myself, but I do think it affects my nearest neighbours. It is all very upsetting.
I wonder if this holding company know how many cars are wrecked because of the exposed grate at the top of 'their' road?
Living here is, I think, significantly contributing to my depression. Noise all night so I can't sleep, all the rows, fights in the street (though not as bad as before) a scrapyard when I look out of the window, damp coming in from next door because the landlord won't repair the hole in their roof. And if I try and contact the council my messages are eaten by dragons and never returned.
I know that so many people have it worse. I have just spent a few minutes trying to look on the bright side. I've not done very well.
Dear heart is bringing in fish & chips for tea, which is a treat I am greatly anticipating. I have no idea what we are going to eat tomorrow, but we need to be out and helping our neighbours if we can.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Hi everyone! :hello:
I haven't posted on the daily threads before but have been reading them for about a week. Hope you don't mind me gatecrashing.
Well, my baby was due today and even though the midwife has been telling me for three weeks that it could be here any day it still hasn't arrived! Last night I thought we could have a take away curry to see if that would move things on, but as my husband pointed out I only eat kormas and that isn't spicy enough to bring on labour!Well, I fancied a curry anyway so we had one!
I've just sat eating hot chili tortilla chips to see if that'll do anything but still nothing!!
I'm getting pretty scared about the whole "giving birth" thing again but I'm looking forward to meeting Junior, and getting my body back. Junior's been kicking me about for too long now!
I have a sink full of washing up to do, which I don't feel like doing but my wm has nearly finished it's cycle so I'd better get that hung on the airer in a minute! My DD is running up and down the lounge and just tripped over her potty sending it's contents flying all over the rug! That'll teach me to sit here playing instead of emptying it as soon as she got off!
By the way, can someone tell me what Y/S means with regard to food please? I have been trying hard to work it out but can't come up with the answer!
Rage in Eden you were very brave. I'd have been terrified if that had happened to me!
Anyway, hugs to everyone, I love reading your posts, thanks for reading mine!I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
Just caught up with this page - Happy Birthday Hester!!
Just had a frugal tea of sauteed onion, leek and carrot which I then added to HM white sauce and had it with spaghetti (oh and a glass of wine...already!).
Just read through the 'tough' thread and it inspired me to go and switch off the heating, even though I'd just put it on when I got in an hour ago. I'm not cold and neither are the dogs. It's only us here tonight so I'll shove it on again in a little while when it gets a bit colder. We're off out for a walk in a minute anyway. A good march along gets you nice and hot!
I had stir fries on Wed and Thurs - no meat, just loads of crunchy veg. Tomorrow I'll either get a chicken or defrost one of the beef joints |I got when Morrisons had them on offer. I'm enjoying seeing how many evenings meals and packed lunches I get. The last 2 days I haven't had any meat, cheese or eggs in for my sandwiches and I'm finally sick of peanut butter, so I've made up a tub of crunchy salad which included segments of satsuma - I was literally hunting about for things to put in -and then had my roll and butter. Of course I could have just made a salad sandwich but this way I felt it was a good lunch and lots of it. It got some 'oooh healthy eating' comments from work but you know, it was really because I didn't fancy going to the shops in the evening. It has shown me that I can just get on with it and make do with what I already have.
Sorry this is so long winded!
(((hugs))) to folks

I had a great time at college and everyone kept saying 'What's different?'
so being a bit of a show-off I told 'em. Cue round of applause for my new 'regal stance' from a class full of students ,bless them .
Both of my DD's are delighted that their old Mum is looking more like her old self again after all this time . I am just going to pour myself a good glug of G&T with ice'n'slice to celebrate
Cheers everyone
Isn't it daft how something as ordinary as this can make such a difference:j

Rage I would have been petrified, you really are brave!
Jackie I'm so pleased to read about your good day
Soapy you made me even more broody reading your post, looking forward to reading about the new arrival
Well I knew I should have gone to Mr T's earlier, they had sold out of value and own brand giner nuts so bought the ones for three times the price of the value ones coz I really want to try that cake and it took me just over what I had budgeted for myself (I would have been dead on if they had the value ones, lol). Had fun getting coffee and putting the world to rights with my friend earlier, always good to meet up with good friends I find.
Now I just have to get off my bum and make dinner and cake...It'll be late but I'll get there!
More hugs x0 -

Ha! this made me laugh...
My sister has just emailed me with ideas for what she might like for Christmas. She wants a Le Creuset griddle pan (which, coincidentally, is what I told my mum *I* would like, only a couple of days ago!) I emailed her back telling her this and saying "how middle-aged are we?...")
And she would like a "book of old-fashioned cleaning tips" - well, I wonder where I'm going to find one of those :rotfl: :rotfl:
It looks like my sis and I have more in common than I thought
