    Afternoon all,

Happy birthday Hester:bdaycake:have a good one.

Cool here to-day but just Ulick and I for dinner so will split a T bone steak, potatoes and mushrooms. Have done 4 loads of washing and draped them round the house, clothes on line will dry sometime, nothing needed in a hurry.

Have calculated that I can afford to use an average of 11.5 units of electricity per day to keep to my €75 per month...over the past fortnight our average has been over 14, so need to bring that back a bit, as can't afford to pay any more, particularly as I am now using a gas hob, so should be going well below the €75 to allow for gas payment too.

Feeling better to-day than I have been all week, packed 2 bags of clothes for charity shop, some I have been keeping for ages to see if I would lose enough weight to wear them...not gonna happen I think so will get rid while I am in the humour. I still seem to have lots of clothes although 'nothing to wear' when I am going somewhere! So the declutter needs to roll on.

Turfy...am jealous of your Y/S mince...our Tesco in 24 hour one so have no idea when to get bargains, I never seem to find anything except pies and cakes, which I never buy.

Hugs to all who are in need or want, welcome to newbies and congratulations to all who are celebrating

  • Hello everybody and hugs to all in need and Happy Birthdays to all the people who will be feeling ill from too much cake tomorrow :D

Yesterday I went and had my roots done (postponed from last week due to 'flu) and poped into the new petshop and the library. Got a fab book - Beyond Baked Beans - and there is a website of the same name which I have looked at and it looks good.

    LONG POST ALERT

Today I have been shattered so have not done anything apart from some typing work. However it is excusable because of yesterday.
At approx 4.30 pm yesterday I made myself a drink in the kitchen and, having decided to "knock off" for the day, went into the back room. I closed the curtains and put the TV on. I started to watch a programme I had taped when I became aware within a few minutes of voices behind me (I was sat on the sofa with my back to the window). I paused the TV convinced I was hearing things whereupon a series of soft knocks were made to the central pane of the window. At this point I became concerned. I rose from the sofa and started to walk to the door. At this point a further 3 loud knocks were made on the window. As I did not want to open the curtains and now convinced that somebody was in my garden I entered my dining room en route to the kitchen. As I did so there was an almighty crash at which my initial thought was that one of my windows had gone. The next thing I remember is being at the open kitchen door watching two youths running across my lawn to the fence at the rear of the garden whilst I hurl abuse at them. At this point they separated - one on the left jumping onto my compost bin and over the fence into the next garden and the one of the right using one of my apple trees to haul himself over the fence on to the roof of the shed in the next garden and then jumped off. At this point I had a clear line of sight and watched as they jumped over a futher two garden fences whilst I was shouting at them. Before they had jumped the third garden fence I had rung the police. Whilst on the phone with the Police and on being asked about damage I can see that they have used a paving slab from the stepping stone path to the lawn to attempt to break the back door. Fortunately we have got toughened safety glass in it so although they have made a huge scratch and gouged a section out of the uPVC surround the glass itself has held. It appears that they left my house and went on within a couple of minutes to break in to a house in the road behind mine where they were disturbed and made off with a lap top. The police (excellent response - they were here within a couple of minutes) gave chase across the meadows at the back of the road behind me but unfortunately the Police helicopter based at Barton refused to "go up" and so they lost the youths (the police speaking to me were not happy bunnies). Thank God I've given up work as I would have walked in on them. Anyway, full police statement etc which the police officer (who didn't look old enough to have a paper 'round let alone a set of handcuffs, bless) said was very good and I'd done very well to get as much detail of them as I could (years of watching CSI said Mr Rage). One of them I got a look at but it was so quick that it's doubtful I'd be able to pick them out. Needless to say nobody saw/heard anything. Then one of the awful house of children whilst I am waiting for the Police decides to throw stones at my front door - hyped up I give chase and catch the little........ who promptly says it isn't her! I tell her not to waste her breath and, to give her her due, when I tackle the Mother she is appalled and the daughter's friend who is also with her is promptly sent home. I have obviously turned into a right battleaxe. :rotfl: What really annoys me though is we have a DVD player and a digital radio and and old fashioned big telly and that's it for gadgets. Mr Rage has his mob with him and mine is always in a handbag. No X-box, wii or anything like that - it's just not what we're into.

As you can imagine tomorrow will be spent going to B&Q and getting security lighting. I had always assumed we were relatively "protected" as the minimum number of gardens you have to come through to get to ours if 3 but obviously not. I will also pick up the remainder of the windfall apples that I can prise away from the family of 5 (yes I've counted them) blackbirds who seem to be enjoying them immensely. I will leave the worst ones but ones they've just had a bit of a peck at can go in my crumble - it's not like they don'tget fed.
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Just popped in for a quick look round before I turn off for the night, trying to save on the electric bills, not that it would save much, turning off a couple of hours earlier than usual, but as OH keeps telling me, every little helps, yeah right!! I wonder who it is who keeps leaving lights on all over the house

Got to get some sewing done and finish some knitting off, so that's my evening taken care of.

Rage in Eden what an awful thing to happen, hope you're feeling ok x

Thanks for the recipes Floss and Diva I will try them out

JackieO glad it all went well today x Just remember chin up, chest out :D

Its raining here and has gone so COLD brrr, no snow yet though thank goodness. Saturday's we have a lot of running around to do from one side of Brum to the other and shopping and cooking in between at both the Mum's flat's, then off to see my friend Jo to finish off clearing her garage out for her, we have moved most of her Oh's tools out, so she feels better about going in there now, still quite a lot to move though.

Better go and get dinner sorted.

  • Rage - I am so sorry to hear what happened. Do everything you can to make sure you feel safe. One (minor) consolation is that you probably terrified them. I wish it would leave a sense that they should not try it again, but they probably will.

I hope the police reassure you and help you to get yourself 'proofed'.

Must go - little bear is dismantling the living room!

  • Evening all
Big hugs to Rage, how scarey.
Still no Mrs Degree at work, but lots of vomming kids, some with projectile vomming, also worse nosebleed I've ever seen, I thought I was in an episode of CSI! So all in all an exciting birthday, scrubbing carpets & floors with disinfectant, what a way to spend a birthday!
Thanks for all the good wishes.
    hugs Hester
