    Morning all,
    Happy Birthday Hester.
Sybil, nice to see you, don't worry about doing too much, just keep plodding along.
    Pen-Pin, hope you're feeling better.
I'm having a really bad week, can't move my arm hardly and my appointment has been cancelled again. I've been waiting to have treatment for 11 weeks now and no one seems to care that I'm getting worse.
DH took me to the shopping outlet yesterday but I didn't get much, all the shops seem to have a load of over priced tat at 3 for 2.
I don't like Christmas, I will just mention it now so that people don't think I'm a grumpy old bat. My first husband died on Christmas Day 14 years ago and although I have my lovely DH2 it is always a bad time for me, especially going round the shops, too many bad memories. Won't mention it again.
I have gammon in the SC today so that will do for a few meals. It's a lovely blowy day so washing is out. BM is on making dough, I prefer to bake the loaves in the oven.
I intended making ginger nuts but I can't really stir very well so I'll leave that.
Hugs to anyone in need, Smokey, I keep thinking about you.
    Have a nice day.

Well yet another prescription of antibiotics...that's three weeks this month I've had them, bah! Got these little cysts in my earlobes that keep getting infected, had a couple removed from one ear a couple of months ago but there's at least another one in that ear and one in the other. Never mind though, at the hospital at the end of next week (again) for a surgical consult (again) so hopefully this time they'll get them all. Last time the lump on one earlobe wasn't large enough to remove but it's currently infected (again) so hopefully it'll be big enough still by the time the surgey rolls around (again, lol). Rant over on that though, it's not the end of the world, doesn't affect me that much just begrudge buying so many prescriptions and having to wear my hair down all the time to cover my horrendously disfigured and swolen earlobes and not being able to wear pretty earings (been almost the whole year, couldn't even wear my special ones for my graduation!).

I've almost completed these forms for my job in Jan (at last), security and health clearance thingies, they want to know everything. Just waiting on my Mam to call me back to get the last few details and they'll be in the post this afternoon. :D

Also bought my potatoes whilst I was out so got them on the go baking for the filled potatoes for dinner, doing a couple extra for the freezer too :) Worked out I had some oats in so going to grab the rest of the stuff later and make Twink's hobnobs for a weekend treat, along with the ginger biscuit cake (well I feel like celebrating my new cooking enthusiasm) so we'll be getting merrily fat whilst hopefully decorating this weekend. :j

More hugs to everyone, still freezing cold up north and raining on and off so there'll be no washing on the line today (well we have run out of washing stuff to so waiting for OH to bring some home tonight).

Why does my cat always come for a cuddle when I'm just about to get up? Oh well, on with the day.
  • Pippa hon - sorry for the delay, you asked yesterday but I am only just catching up..

    1 kg carrots chopped
A large onion (preferably red) roughly chopped
    2 cloves of garlic
1 litre of vegetable stock (I used 2 veg stock cubes)
    A little oil
    1 tsp ground coriander
big bunch of fresh coriander roughly chopped
    • Heat the oil in a large pan and add the onions and the garlic. Cook until starting to soften. Don't let them go brown, just let them go transparent.
    • Add carrots and cook for about 5 or so mins til they start to soften.
    • Stir in the ground coriander. Cook for a minute.
    • Add the vegetable stock and bring to the boil. Simmer until the vegetables are tender.
    • Add half a bunch of the coriander and whizz with a hand blender or in a blender until smooth.
    • Reheat in a clean pan, stir in the rest of the fresh coriander and serve.
You can swirl in a drop of milk or cream to make it creamier before you eat and/or serve with garlic croutons.

  • Pouring sleety rain here in Scottish capital, not a day to be out! None the less I shall be popping into Mr T's on route home from work for my stock cupboard essentials. Want to start baking etc so did a wee comparison on mysupermarket.com, got some extra point vouchers for there too so it's a win all round.
Cooking Sausage & Guinness casserole tonight and will be watching Charlie & Chocolate Factory (Johonny Depp 1) while doing the ironing! Wine likely to be involved. So showbiz me...:rotfl:
OH is offshore now for 2 weeks so going to visit the folks tomorrow for the night.
Hope everyone is well and wrapped up!

    hbbanner.gifHester hon!

Didn't get to post yesterday, we had a lot to do in the house and I didn't get near the computer. We had to sort out and move some furniture around to make more room for my lodger. Had to sort through the toy box we had here for my nephews. Made me very sad that they won't be up here playing again due to the family rift.

Had a delicious dinner last night, cheese and potato mash with fried onions, peppers, garlic and chilli mixed in and four sausages cut up and thrown in. Stuck it in a big casserole dish and put cheese on top and put it in the oven. Was really tasty, especially as the pepper and chilli came from our own garden.

We also went out and harvested our first winter potatoes... they look so good! Was trying to post some photos here but my camera is not co-operating. Maybe tomorrow.
smileyhug.gifto all who want them today and getwell.gifto all those not feeling well.
