my son had a letter saying that hs EMA would be paid after waiting several weeks he phoned them and was told by two different people that they were waiting for comfirmation from the school, which school said they had done correctly then on about the fifth phone call the operator asked to check bank details and low and behold they were wrong (EMAs fault i might add) and it has been being paid since september into someone elses bank account
so after several more phone calls and being told that the number we were phoning on couldnt talk about it(even though have been talking about this problem on same number for last 2 weeks) and several trips to and from the bank he is still waiting for his EMA at this rate he will have finished his course lol

  • penny ocs you both have my sympathy let's hope it gets sorted soon, dd has been counting the weeks and how much she will have saved up - what she's forgotten is how much I've 'subbed' her LOL

Ferretpecker I will tell her to go and speak to the relevant people at college tomorrow, if that doesn't get us anywhere I will go in on wednesday and see if I can get things moving Thanks again
  • my son handed the paper work in at the beginning of september and still nothing, the college have said it is not there problem it is the ema people, My son has also forgotton how much he has been subbed! It is just so annoying when you see how much the government have pumped into the banks yet theese kids get nothing.
  • My dd's ema has come through but they have paid her three weeks short - this amounts to £90.00 so I'm going to have to ring the college tomorrow to find out what's going on! Any advise?

When mine came through I was £60 short but that came the week after for some reason.
  • It can take a while for all the backdates pay to go in as it all had to be done manually (we have 900 students in recipt of EMA and its diffucult enough making sure one weeks payments go through, let along gettingbackpay for all of them too.

Keep checking the bank though. Payments and payment runs are often done daily providing there's time, and the money takes 3 working days to show in the bank account, for money to go in on a Friday, payment runs are done on a tuesday, so if payment runs are done later in the week, money could go in start/mid week too.

Also, now that the contract has been given back to capita, we're hoping we'll go back to the old system from next week. If this is right, then everything will get alot easier as all payments will be done automatically then on a much better and quicker system!

If anyone is still struggling or not heard anything, let me know and i'll see what I can do x
  • My daughter started her Full Time college course in Sepember this year, though she still hasn't sent off her EMA forms! Is she too late?

femalibra,She's not too late to claim, however it won't be backdated to september so she is losing money every week she leaves it! I believe they only backdate 1 month. She must be well off not to be bothered about £120 per month plus bonuses lol!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

my son still hasn't got his EMA and yesterday he got another letter saying thanks for his application and they would be dealing with it, even though its all been sorted and they were paying it (into wrong bank account though)when we phoned up they said AGAIN that they were waiting for confirmation from school as they cant pay till it has been confirmed, even when i told them they had been paying it into wrong account from sept they were still adament that school hadn't confirmed.
it was only when i asked so if school havent confirmed any info why have they paid any money out into an account they thought was for my son they were didnt know what to say then
its like banging your head on a brick wall trying to explain anything to them

so now we are waiting for someone to phone us back after he chases it up
good job im not holding my breath as that was yesterday morning.
