Well a productive morning was had by me in town today - just popped into boots, they've got some huge discounts in there at the moment.

I managed to get 7 Christmas pressies for family and one for a friend, took it all to the till, got £5 no 7 voucher which I then managed to spend on 3 lip glosses - 3for2 and 2 vouchers from their "one thing at a time" mags and picked up some "time delay" eye cream. The actual presents cost me £8 in cold hard cash - the other £6 was in points. The lip glosses cost me £2 worth of points and the time delay cream cost me a whole £1 (which I found in my coat pocket). So for £9 cash and £8 in points I got, £89 worth of stuff (based on original prices). :j :j :j When you consider that father inlaw gave me £20 that he swore he owed me at the weekend (I can't remember why he owed it too me) I actually came out of it £11 up.

Going to have to have a sit down now, my day will only get worse if I try and do things, I shall sit very still and exersise my clicking finger..

Turkey and veg pie for tea - providing I get round to making the pastry.

  • Afternoon,

Just got home form work. Children were good today they seem to have left the monster that lives inside them at home :D .

Just had dinner a plate of tomatoe pasta as i have no bread. I made a loaf while the pasta was cooking it is now on the side rising.

Picking up dd in 2 hours and will get her to make some rolls from the bread.

Have no idea whats for tea but it will involve Bacon and mushrooms as they need eating up.

Scuzz good luck with your training and remember baby steps dont push yourself to hard.

    Hi everyone!
Quietish day today. Cleaned the bathroom and had a quick tidy up this morning before work before doing the school run etc.
Good news about our mortgage following our meeting yesterday- once we've paid some more off we'll only be left with 22K which will be covered by the endowment. It's such a relief following OH's job loss and it'll all be paid off in 5 years time. :j
OH started work on the kitchen last night. This time last year we were planning to have fitters in but those plans were scuppered with our change in financial circumstances so now it's DIY!! He's beginning by converting the space left behind when we had the hot air heating replaced into a cupboard. For anyone wanting basic DIY materials eg plaster check out Wilkinsons. We found it was significantly cheaper yesterday than Home Base.
Plans for tonight will be updating our accounts on the pc and then chilling out. I've defrosted two pots of leftovers from the freezer hoping that they're both HM spag bol- if not it could be an interesting tea! Also got a bit of cooked apple left which I shall probably make up into apple fool with some custard.

I've just rang Readers Digest to get the book they sent me returned and told them that I also wanted to cancel my subscription to their magazine.

"Edward" : May I ask why you wish to cancel?
Me : Financial reasons. I just can't afford it at the moment
"Edward" : I can give you a discount to £13 (at least thats what I think he said. He had a VERY thick Jamican sounding accent)
Me : Oh, I'll have to speak to my partner to see if we can manage that :D
"Edward" : Just ask for me next time you ring and I'll give you the discount.

:money: This would work out cheaper than OH's computer magazine :D

    Absolutely frazzled today ...

Aimed for a quiet night last night ... early bath / bed with book / stopped caffeine intake at 3pm / no alcohol ... so what happens? DD happens that's what! That was until 02:00, then DH had coughing fit until 04:30 when I finally snapped and suggested he hawled his !!!!!! to the bathroom and took some cough mixture, which weirdly worked within seconds ... needless to say by 07:00 this morning I felt like hell!

    Whinge over!!

Last night I'd planned the meals for today, something unheard for me ... including getting relevant things out of freezer etc!

The plan is not going quite to plan, after a delayed start to the morning, but not too shabby!

B - Cereal (DD & DH at 08:00), Toast (DD and me at 10:00) (She's good at persuading us she's starved .... she's just over 2!)

L - Mackerel, bread & butter and ketchup

D - Penne pasta with cheese sauce, mushrooms and bacon

And a "gentle reminder" from our IFA (his words, not mine!) that we need to sort our lives out and fill out application forms forms for life assurance / mortgage protection / etc / etc .... problem is ... they're dull / complicated / and mainly I'm too asleep to cope! So, at least I know what I'm doing this evening!! .... and how many times do I want to tell them how heavy I am and how much alcohol I consume .... by the time I've finished these forms, they may well have sent me to drink! LOL!

Housework wise - I've erm, cleared out DD's play house and got a stain off a chair I've been meaning to do since Christmas Day, put dry nappies into the washing basket to be folded and erm, nope, that's it! .... so for those of you who think that everyone on here is running around like a very efficient honed machine .... remember, there's me .... who's done very little and survived to tell the tale!

Child wise - fed, fed, fed, fed, fed, and done some drawing. (I've only got one DD!)

Right, time to go grate some cheese whilst daughter hooks into her favourite soap - Balamory!

    Ciao folks.

    Hi all

The children in my class were little beasts today (the first time, so I'm quite impressed that we've got this far!!!) and I had my first "whatever!" from one of them (Year 6 girl). Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, kids!

OH is in Spain still - he'll be back tomorrow. I'm supposed to be having soup for supper, BUT I really fancy fish and chips. This is obviously lethal and will require me to leave the house. What to do  I'll probably go out for fish and chips after the news :D

Not much OS going on here, but not much "New Style" either, so we're still saving money............

PP - great news about your stairlift being fitted. :j :j

    Take care
    Vicky

  • I was up late this morning as working at home today…how wonderful…yawn…now where’s my Old Style Sofa…. :p

I made some boiled eggs for brekky… these are not ordinary eggs.... these are wonderful, ovally shaped, brown and speckly with a few feathers stuck to them, fresh from a bantam’s bottom eggs ….

I made some wonderful buttery soldiers to go with the aforementioned eggs …these are not ordinary buttery soldiers but yummy, toasted to a crisp, wholemeal, wheaty, granary grown somewhere, really scrummy yummy buttery soldiers….

I put some salt on the really scrummy yummy boiled eggs… this is not ordinary salt but a really salty Sodium Chloride, high Potassium Chloride with a wonderful Anti-Caking Agent that will do my kidneys and other bits no good whatsoever salt…

Oh hum… eat your heart out M&S…. :D

  • Hi Everyone,
Not much to report today. My first day back at work, horrible boss has made a new years resolution to be even more horrible. My new years resolution is to get another job, or better still change career and become as Nicki put it "a Family Manager" full time rather than part time.
Popped into the card shop to get DD's birthday cards and bought Xmas cards for next year. Had already bought the boxed ones and wrapping paper but Ive now got all the family ones too, half price or less. Only spent £4 in all, usually spend about £12 so was very pleased.

Went to Woolworths the other day and was looking at their Xmas paper which was all in boxes in the middle of the floor with a big "Reduced" sign hanging over it. I picked out some rolls of pink and purple plain foil paper which had Xmas logos on the packaging, I thought I could use it for DD's birthday pressie. How crafty are Woolworths? All the Xmas design paper was half price but the Xmas paper that could be used for other occasions such as birthdays was not reduced, so needless to say I didnt buy it!

Right have a shopping list to write and a shedload or ironing, also need to ring my mum but DD2 has just come back from a party and has got the karaoke machine out, so phone call will have to wait for a bit until I can persuade her to switch it off, she is in a very difficult mood today. Also have to persuade OH to pick up DD1 from Brownies as I really dont want to go out again tonight! (In fact Im off to find my tramp style tracky bottoms to put on as my reason for being unable to go out!)
