As if "elf" is somehow a bit more butch than "fairy"...

Seriously, you've just brought back a childhood memory. The tooth fairy in my house was called Mary the Fairy and used to leave us poems under our pillow along with 10p for the tooth. These were written in fairy handwriting that looked suspiciously like my dad's, and illustrated with little cartoons of mary the fairy (who, by the way, looked like she was "21 again" a few times over AND had eaten all the pies) going about her business :D

Then when my brother came along (youngest of three and the only boy) MTF delegated her responsibilities to her colleague, the very butch Groucho the Elf

Somerset Princess - lovely to see you're posting again. Isn't it great when you notice your bump :) However, I think the best bit is when your bump is big enough for everyone to know you're pregnant and not just getting fat :D:D 7 months was good for me (with DS1 esp) Tidy bump but not too big to be uncomfortable.

    TM :hello:

Hehe thanks hun! I know what you mean, cant wait to not just look a bit chubby hehe! Thinking of getting one of those "mind the bump" t-shirts just to make sure hehe! :rotfl:

I normally simmer the fish slowly for about 20 minutes until it's flakeable so I can remove all bones and skin. While it's simmering I then make about 1/2 pint of white sauce. Mix the flaked fish with the white sauce and some frozen peas and sweetcorn.

Top the whole lot with mashed potato, put in the oven on gas mark 5 for about 30 minutes or until the top is starting to brown nicely.

Thanks so much Moggins - I am salivating now!!! :T

Morning SP :hello: You must be fast approaching the 12 week mark now are you?? Have you got a scan lined up?

We've got our 20 week scan a week today - very exciting!! :D Fidget's a proper fidgetter (quite aptly named me thinks!!) and it's amazing to be able to feel him (still dont know if it's really a him, but that's what I refer to it as) so clearly now, although DH still cant feel him from the 'outside'.

Re the bump - I'm not a skinny chick at the best of times (although not enormous either), and I have what is most of the time quite obviously a 'bump', but people still dont really notice - esp if I wear a jumper. We started taking photos of the bump at about week 14 and take one every Monday night now - lucky dh gets to take a snap of me on the landing in my undies!! It's really incredible to look through them and see your body changing literally before your eyes - would recommend it if you've got a digi camera.

I'm still waiting for the rise in energy I'm supposed to have gotten about 6 weeks ago LOL!! Still pretty knackered, although not sure if that's being pregnant, or if it's life!!

All in all we're doing really well, and starting to think about all the STUFF that a baby needs  but it's getting quite exciting now.

Give me a shout if there's anything I can help with. Take Care.

  • Oh dear oh dear! I hope february is a better month. It is difficult being unwell yourself but much worse when you have little ones to see to. Been there, done that. Hugs to anyone who needs one.

An energyless day for me yesterday. One of those `couldn`t be bothered` time-wasting days. I think the weather has a lot to do with it. It was dull, grey and cold all day

Tesco shop arrived early with quite a bit of heavy stuff as I managed to get several bags of bogof bread flour. Now where on earth am I going to put them? Still a lovely pleasant delivery man, makes all the difference

Small sofa bed also arrived and the kind men took it up two flights of stairs. I got the tools and I have just finished putting it together. We decided that we would be realistic and we have passed on our big spare single beds to be replaced with this excellent item. It makes a decent double but the sofa is only 146cm wide x 80 cm deep, so now we have a lot more space for our other bits.

I must admit that it took quite some time to learn to cater for 2 of us after the children flew the nest.

I am not sorted re meals as yet but there is cooked minced mutton in the freezer so maybe shepherds pie

    breakfast was fruited shreddies

lunch will be philadelphia and sprouted seed sandwich

fruit eaten in between meals as it is easier to digest so is easier on the tum

moggins fish pie sounds lovely. Think I`ll make something similar tomorrow
  • Hiya MrsB! Nice to have another bump on the board!!!

Yep have first scan next Friday, 10th feb and am incredibly excited! I think I am a week behind where they think I am due to long cycle but am looking forward to getting out of the first 12 weeks.

Sorry to hear the energy isnt forthcoming yet - was really hoping that you would say how wonderful the second trimester is and how you were blooming lol :rotfl: Ah well, we can all hope!

oooo looking forward to hear how oyur 20 week scan goes! Are you going to find out the sex if you can? We are going to if the baby co-operates - think Darling Fiance wants to get to the Bristol City football shop and start buying clothes for Junior hehe!!

    Take care!

  • Morning - just about

I'm taking it easy. I was quite productive last night. My fish cakes turned out delicious. I'm really enjoying trying out some new recipes as we were in such a rut before i came on this forum, always spag bol, pasta with tomato based sauce, chilli, and chicken stir fry. DH is loving it. I've made a menu plan for the next three weeks, so here's hoping i can stick to it.

I managed to finish another edge off on the rug i'm making for my baby nephew. Only another side, and a short one at that, and then i can give it to my sister, done and dusted. I then want to start another Disney one for my spare room. Me and DH are definitely going to start trying for a baby this month, so i like to be organised. (DH only likes getting things at the last minute, so i'm having to sneakily prepare - although he did appreciate that fact at xmas when he had less last minute shopping to do :T )

I need to hang some clothes on the airers and put the WM on again. I can nearly see the end of my washing basket, but now DH's has built back up again. Does it ever end??? Should also try doing some ironing today as i've been putting it off for ages and the pile has got massive.

I've had my porridge for breakfast, HM soup again for lunch, and leftover sausages chopped up in a tomato based sauce with pasta for tea.

    Have a nice day!!

Hi Michelle, just wanted to say 'good luck' with the baby making!! I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine, but just wanted to say dont worry if it doesnt happen straight away - it took us 2 years of trying to get pregnant first time! But equally dont be surprised if you fall straight away!! Either way, what I'm trying to say is, have fun and relax - as soon as you start to think of it as a 'mission' or goal to acheive, you'll put yourself under stress that you dont need.

Right - enough babbling, I'm off before you send me to the loony bin!!
