I was in a similar situation not so long ago and they refused to give me a refund or vouvhers without a recept! But,u never know, worth giving it a go HTH

Me too. It was a gift, took it back in the bag, even had the argos price label sticker on. They said no receipt = no refund of any kind. This was a few months ago.
  • just a heads up....
my dh works as a courier and they had the woolies contract, last night all woolies lorries were turned away from the courier depo ( maybe this is because woolies also owe the courier company money? ). they have now stopped delivering to and from woolies so that means no new stock for woolies and no deliveries from woolies to the general public i guess? We also have vouchers to use for woolies ( dh was given them as bonus type thing!ironically) so we have been told to use them in the next couple of days! i assume this is a nationwide thing so i am not sure how long the stoes will keep trading ( regardless of what sky says!) i feel very sad for the staff at woolies (although not the miserable manager at my local store!)

Does anybody know how Woolies is going to deal with this:
I want to return something, but managed to loose the receipt in the chaos that is my Christmas shopping. Normally, I assume, they'd give me vouchers, which would be ok, as I will need to get some more bits, but under current unfortunate circumstances, I'm not sure. I can show a print out of my bank statement as proof of purchase by the way, any ideas on the matter?
I know I'm being a bit selfish worrying about this when the employees face such uncertainty, but I suspect the lost receipt problem might affect others too.

I had to return a wwe jumper last weekend and didnt have a reciept, I only wanted a exchange to bigger size as they seem to be very small but they never had any in stock and said they doubt they will be getting more as they were a seperate supplier??? Anyways, they didnt want to give me vouchers due to recent circumstances but offered to let me choose another item of clothing but there was nothing I needed nor wanted so the manager looked up on computer at item and found the one sold over the weekend and checked my card details against it, this told him it was my purchase and had been bought from that store so he told me to go get anything in the store to equal or over the purchase (as long as I paid extra if it was dearer). :j

Beat just to go in and see what they say really ;)

I spent £36 tonight. Just calculated how much I would have paid full price and it was £74. So many things were marked at one price then went through much cheaper. e.g. crayola pencils/crayons reduced to £2 from £3+ but going through the till at £1 and 50p. http://www.valueland.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=00249025&src=froogle these were marked half price at £2.49 but went through at £1 so paid 80p with discount.

The place will be another empty blot on our high street and will end up becoming nothing more than a refuge for local spiders.
